I read that as "French toasted roll." I must be hungry!

Good recipes, nonetheless!

Hi JD..nice to hear you're making friends and feel like you're able to do some constructive political activities.  I voted for rendition and I was only half jesting on that..I've become too cynical to think that any one of us is safe really from Big Brother.

I read various newspapers from around the world and see people in big numbers protesting things against their governments or corporations and then we get to the US and it seems that protesting has become a thing of the past here in any significant way...how can people protest when they are either to apathetic or misinformed by our MSM or believe the garbage the WH and Faux News continues to poison the airways with?

Thanks Ink,

actually, this very same diary has disaqppeared from Kos, hmm, the NSA? Or am I just too revolutionary to post something there?

I know what you mean about the MSM.  At least here I have respectable news in Der Spiegel and others.  It just sickens me that today I read about a mentally ill man killed by police in NO.  The world is going crazy.

On the MSM news the justification for deadly force was given as the threat presented by the 3" blade knife the man was wielding.
Anthony Hayes, 38, was shot Monday after allegedly lunging at police with a 3-inch blade. Part of Hayes' confrontation with 18 officers -- though not the shooting itself -- was videotaped by at least three bystanders.

DHS recently announced that blades up to 4" in length are now allowed on planes after risk reassessment.
Beginning Thursday, for the first time since Sept. 11, scissors with blades up to four inches long, some screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers under seven inches in length will be permitted on airliners. Boxcutters and knives will remain banned. The TSA will also increase random passenger searches.

ISAF isolated in Afghanistan

Germany was the only client of the air force base in Termez, which was the only route for the supplies of its Afghan military deployments. But Termez is one of the few regional cities with a railway connection to Afghanistan across the border river of Amu Darya.

Termez Uzbekistan (UTST)

The Soviet-built Friendship Bridge linking it to the Afghan river port of Hairatan makes Termez the only potential logistical hub in the region. Denial of service through this hub is a challenge for ISAF as a whole as well as for Germany, whose force makes up the backbone of this anti-terrorist operation.

The analysis of possible "alternative channels" also reveals a grim picture for all ISAF contributors. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, who could have provided alternative supply routes, vowed to act primarily in line with the interests of their Central Asian neighbors, one of which is Russia. The largest remaining, though geographically inconvenient, Western-controlled logistical capability in Central Asia is the U.S.-leased Manas airport in Kyrgyzstan, but it is already overcrowded with C-130s and C-17s withdrawn from Khanabad.
