Also, I'd like to offer my thoughts on the 'powder' thing :
Schumer polled the room and the overwhelming majority supported voting for Roberts as a way of keeping our powder dry.

First, this single sentence is a prime example of what is wrong with the party.  Polled the room?  What a crock of shit.  Do what you think is right.

The other fact that many dems seem to be forgetting is that their 'powder' is not as powerful as they think it is.  By 'powder' I have to assume they are talking about a filibuster, which could just be overruled anyway by the Republicans.

If they're not talking about a filibuster, then they're saying that voting against a nomination that they disagree with is 'powder'.

Which is so ludicrous I don't even want to expound on it.

It's as if they think they only get so many "no" votes a year!

And, that if they save up the ones they don't use, they somehow become more powerful.

Although I have to admit that I would get a great kick out of Sen. Byrd walking up to the podium and declaring: By the power of Grayskull, I declare this nomination defeated.  I have the power!.

But then, I have a strange sense of humor.

I just want to know, if the nomination of 50-year-old apparently healthy man who refuse to cnfirm his positions on the issues to a life time appointment as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court isn't worth getting out your powder, what the hell is?

I swear, sometimes I think they've snorted all their "powder"  for all the sense their actions make...
