P.S. Why, exactly?

Why do you hate her?

I am serious, here.

Inquiring minds want to know.

LOTS of them apparently.

Mine among them.

  1. Nepotism and Oligarchy are bad for American Democracy
  2. America needs to look forwards not back to the 90's
  3. Hilary would be a very divisive candidate and president
  4. If it wasn't illegal for her husband to run, we would vote for him, not her
  5. It is hard to figure out what she actually stands for with all of her posturing
  6. From what I can tell she is too conservative for me on several issues
  7. I think she is opposed to the progressive movement as a movement because it is posed to weaken her power base
  8. I actually think that she is the least electable of the top tier democratic candidates, as the Republican base will not be motivated unless she is our candidate

I think Hilary is doing a good enough job as Senator from New York, but her positions on executive power, and Iraq show a lack of judgement and disingenuousness in discussing them that say to me that she has not deserved a promotion to president.

Since when do I not care?

About almost ANYTHING?

(Read below for more on THAT account.)

AG

P.S. If she was a savvy dog catcher or crossing guard I would admire her a great deal less. But yes. You are right. I do admire high levels of competence, just so long as they are not disastrously criminal in their effect.

Don't you?

your answers were non-responsive and/or overly dismissive.

What are you even saying?

Anyone can predict Hillary will win.  Doesn't mean that is a desirable outcome.

Luam doesn't want a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton/Bush country.  Luam doesn't want a candidate that will keep us in Iraq or bomb Iran or fudge the intelligence or will pursue Clintonomics.

Luam doesn't want to live in an America where all the political noise is about fucking Vince Foster and the Rose Law Firm and Mena airport.

Neither do I.

If I thought she was the only candidate that could win I would feel differently.  I don't.  Anyone that can beat her can beat Rudy or Mitt or Fred or Newt.

Hillary seems far more interested in gaming political advantage than in doing what is right much of the time. She strikes me as lacking for real political courage. Either her judgment, or her commitment to principles I share, or both are cast into doubt by her voting record (...particularly giving a "known drunk" the "keys to the car".)  I don't want another Bush - who runs every decision thru his/her political wing.  I want a president who is more interested in good governance than winning re-election.

By the numbers.

1-Nepotism and Oligarchy are bad for American Democracy

Guess we need a total revolution then, because "nepotism and oligarchy": is what holds the pursestrings here. they are what's for dinner here.

Bet on it.

I'm willing to risk losing it all in the pursuit of something higher. Are you? Really ready? And more importantly...are enough others ready to put it all on the line here?

I think not, myself.

2-America needs to look forwards not back to the 90's

Please. What the fuck does THAT mean? That we need a government of 20 something-year olds? Barack Obama is the youngest contender, and HE has been hustling since the '90s.

3-Hilary would be a very divisive candidate and president

And?

Who will NOT be? In this very divided country.

I actually think that she will NOT be divisive. She certainly has not been so in Red State/Blue State New York. Read up on her tenure here. She has so many Republicans backing her, she could probably run as an Independent in NY and still win.

4-If it wasn't illegal for her husband to run, we would vote for him, not her

Sheer bullshit. Unless of course you are some sort of misogynist. Who all vote Republican anyway.

5-It is hard to figure out what she actually stands for with all of her posturing

Yeah? Could be.

Do you think that she stands for the vast right wing conspiracy?

I don't.

And getting rid of THAT is Job Number One as far as I am concerned. Nothing good will happen here until the far right wing is totally crippled. Nothing.

6-From what I can tell she is too conservative for me on several issues

Name 'em.

7-I think she is opposed to the progressive movement as a movement because it is posed to weaken her power base

'Scuse me?

What "progressive movement" do you mean, exactly?

Really. WHICH "progressive movement"?

 Y'mean...there actually IS one?

One that is capable of winning elections?

Really?

If there is, please  tell me exactly WHICH elections has it won since about 1938?

8-I actually think that she is the least electable of the top tier democratic candidates, as the Republican base will not be motivated unless she is our candidate

I refer you back to my answer at number 3.

9-I think Hilary is doing a good enough job as Senator from New York, but her positions on executive power, and Iraq show a lack of judgement and disingenuousness in discussing them that say to me that she has not deserved a promotion to president.

She is indeed a crafty pol. And it is not a "promotion". It's an election. YOU know...those things that crafty pols usually win?

Sorry, Luam.

You am wrong here.

Watch.

Later...

I may be wrong, but you asked for reasons.  I gave you mine, I don't feel that I got any reply other than aggressive dismissal.  Allow me to address some of your rebuttal.

I do not think that Hilary is "inevitable" that is the argument that GWB used to win the Republican nomination (that and black babies) in 2000, but we are democrats and we will take our time to think about our candidates.  If she is our nominee she is better than anyone likely to win the Republican nomination, but until then I will take my argument to the Democratic party and the primary electorate.

  1. I am willing to risk a lot in defense of American Democracy, and hope that I will not have to.  I think that we are trending dangerously into an excess of "nepotism and oligarchy" and Hilary's candidacy is actually a sign of illness in our Democracy.  I want our next president to be unrelated to any past presidents.  I am not will to rebel simply because Hilary wins the nomination/ presidency but it will be a sign of other problems with may require us to water the tree of freedom with the blood of tyrants and patriots.

  2. The 90's comment was intended to claim that we need a new governing philosophy.  Where I feel that Clinton symbolizes and promised a return the successes of the 90's.  I am not talking about age but promises and attitudes; Edwards, Obama, Dodd, and Richardson all promise that in my book.

  3. Hilary starts with the highest negatives.  I think that Obama is posed to win over both the moderates and the liberals, although he might lose the racists.  Edwards is genial with that Southern Charm that has worked for Democrats since Kennedy.  I think either one has a chance to change the Red/ Blue map which I think is critical for moving our nation forward.  I am not talking about winning over the 25% who still support Bush but the 25% who did three years ago and do no longer.

  4. I am not a misogynist, personally I was excited about Speaker Pelosi in 2006 when the rest of the blogosphere ignored that rally call, it is part of the reason I knocked doors full time for a month.  I do think that many people refer to their like of her Husband when they talk about why they want Hilary.  He will be her goodwill ambassador, he has a lot of political savvy, he has a lot of connections and access to money people; that is what I hear when I talk to people about Hilary as well as a reference to her experience most of which comes from her being a member of the first couple.  I think it would be a good president to have a woman President, but a bad president to have a Former First Lady be President.

  5. Good point, but I want more than just an opposition to the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy", all of the Dems are opposed to that but they need to be for something.

  6. Iraq war, campaign finance (lobbying), her tacking back and forth on abortion rights.  She is the worst of both worlds to me, a moderate that Republicans have already successfully labeled as a left winger.  I am a liberal and she make it very clear that she does not like that label

  7. The progressive movement which is currently growing through blogs like these which has won us several great Senators and more congressmen and women over the years and provides the background of strength for important issues like civil rights.  The one that most of us are implicitly a part of by contributing to blogs like these.  Those of use who fight to bring meaning to the phrase, "We the people, of these United States."

  8. A matter of guesswork, gut reactions and opinions, I grant you yours and have stated mine.

  9. She is indeed crafty, and I will work and vote against her in the primaries because her craft doesn't seem to work on me.
