Yum. I was also thinking that Obama and McCain could each choose their favorite Sonny Rollins album, write it down on a piece of scrap paper to be held by Kathleen Harris and not revealed until the conclusion of the election. The American people could weigh in, at a series of outdoor cuy barbecues and wine tastings, on their favorite Sonny Rollins album. They would also write down their choices on a scrap of paper to be held and counted by Antonin Scalia. If either one of the candidates favorite album is the one selected, then obviously they would win. If neither was selected then some combination of time difference between the recordings, number of common sidemen and that type of thing would be used determine the winner. If the American people choose one of the Steely Dan albums Sonny appeared on, effective control of the U.S. Government would be turned over to a coalition of Mexico and Sweden. Then we'd all be drugged and deported in the middle of the night.

great, looks like my plans to apply for dual-citizenship will be very timely.

Good choice. And, if it won, it would carry the side benefit of not having us deported. I can see entire media strategies being devised around this. If you don't welcome our new Swedish overlords or look forward to your eventual deportation, scribble Saxophone Colossus on a scrap of paper when you attend the BBQ and Wine Tasting next week.

Well, that's where the voting takes place. I was originally thinking about having it in a central location like New Jersey, but I guess that wouldn't be fair to people who don't live in either the New York or Philadelphia areas.  Apparently the country extends West a bit. I guess we'd have to hold a bunch of them. Sort of like a traveling carnival featuring a sweaty, stinky Antonin Scalia collecting scraps of paper and cocktail napkins with Sonny Rollins album titles scribbled on them. As per Man Eegee's suggestion, we'd also need to round up a ton of guinea pigs.

One problem this presents is how to keep the candidates from revealing their choice while the voting is still going. What's to keep Obama or McCain from posing for pictures while standing in the middle of the desert dressed up like a cowboy for instance? Some sort of an isolation chamber or a medically induced coma would probably be a workable solution.

I just KNEW that album was going to be at the end of the above link.

AG

P.S. I believe that the campaign itself serves as a sort of isolation chamber or else all of the candidates would have a better idea of what the people on the ground are really thinking, and as far as "medically induced comas" are concerned?  I have a strong suspicion that after a year of campaigning they are already in some sort of coma...probably at least partially induced by the amount of Big Pharma meds that they must be taking to endure the travel and publicity pace.

Later...
