Booswarm Request II: Operation Yellow Feather / Froggy Pond

by BostonJoe
Sun Nov 20th, 2005 at 08:54:04 AM EST

All right.  There seems to be enough interest.  I'd say "Operation Yellow Feather / Froggy Pond" should be a go.  But I think we should have something ready to go to the web by noon Monday.

After listening to all your thoughtful posts, here is what I suggest.  On noon Monday we release a diary on Booman that describes our protests.  It shows examples of the chickenhawk art we want to send.  It has a couple of pdf (that's adobe, right) files that can be printed off with the art.  It provides addresses and fax numbers for Schmidt, Bubp and Hastert (just because he is their leader).  It explains the story briefly, and asks the reader to print off a form (or make their own creative chickenhawk), personalize it and mail or fax it to these public servant cowards.  Also, it asks that they send a copy to their local media with a press/release letter, to publicize our cause.  Selected Bootribbers then go out and post / share our work on the blogosphere.  Somebody with a good name posts it at the orange place.  Maybe we have Winger post it on My Left Wing, etc.  We of course notify our own anchor, Oberman.  And sit back and hope we hear about our efforts on the nightly news.

All right.  That's a little grandiose.  But a guy who can draw as good as me has to dream.  Still, there is a lot to do before noon tomorrow, if we are going to hold to that deadline.  I'm going to list the tasks I think we need to get done.  Please volunteer if you can do one or two or a hundred of these things.

  1.  Recommend this.
  2.  Unrecommend the original.
  3.  Can play with any of the images using photoshop, so they are one page size, with the propert logos, sayings.
  4.  Convert any or all of the images to pdf that is downloadable from diary.
  5.  Get permission to use any of the images below.
  6.  Able to contact a source at progressive blog or site that can publicize our protest (or in the case of dKos, who can diary it and get on the list).

I'm sure I'm missing stuff.  Feel free to help me amend the list.  A swarm is such a flexible thing.  And a terrible thing to waste.

Here are the images that we will use tomorrow, pending approval of by a source.

First and foremost, my beautiful artwork:

The very popular, but still needing clearance on use:

The simple, yet cowardly elegant (and still needing clearance I think):

The classic, and most likely to get us sued unless we have clearance:

And of course, we'd still like to see others.

So.  Do we have a swarm?  Or what?

That will be an option.  Provided we assure that the graphic above can be put in a printable (pdf) format, and someone can assure me we've got permission to use it.

Alice would like the option of sending an actual feather.  She provided this link for those who would want to purchase a yellow feather to send.  I like the idea very much, but want to make the protest as easy and fast as possible.  So we can provide the feather option in addition to the "print and send" option.  Then they can all get a pack of 10 yellow feathers for future "Operation Yellow Feather" actions, so we can keep hectoring these McCarthyist cowards.

Well.  We've got Tracy's feather.  If someone can color it yellow and slap it on a printable PDF file we can post.  That will work.  We just need an IT department.  :)

Here's a dirty old feather one of my ducks left lying about. I just scanned it, and colored it yellow.

Have I missed it, or has anyone made the connection to the book/movie "The Four Feathers.  In which a young British man was given four white feathers for his supposed cowardice.  And than spent much of the rest of his life trying to do something heroic for each of the people who gave him a feather - so that they would take it back.

Here's the Four Feathers motif (as requested), combined with the unavoidable phallic suggestiveness of the feather shape.

I think it's elegant actually, when printed out.  And that it would make lovely stationary.

Keres,

I didn't get this image until this morning.  I tried to cut and paste it, as I had done the others, and send it to mlr, but it wouldn't work for me.  Said image was too large for my WordPerfect (which I've been using).

I would still try to include it on the fly this morning.  But things are hectic here.  I'd suggest that you try to type some slogan on it, and then mail it directly to mlr at mlr701@gmail.com with a note asking that it be put on the server.  If it gets on the server, I will try to include it later in day.

I like it also.  It would make nice stationary.  :)

Then I pdf'd it and sent it to mlr, our designated server tech.  We are so in business.

That is an awesome place to start.  Have at it talented people.  Someone paint that bad boy yellow and put it in a format that tens (or millions) of Internet users can download and send.  Yee-haw!  Way to go Military Tracy.  A true patriot.  And artiste.  And no chickenhawk.

That's what I'm talking about people.  Somebody getting involved.  Makin' the world a better place.  A vision of what they want to bo.

A better world is possible.  One not fit for chickenhawks to ever squeak their squawks without full knowledge that we will rain it down on them.

Thanks Binnainne.  Send me the files when you get them done.  I will try to figure out what to do with them once you have them done.  Any old slogan will do.  Something chickenhawk related, or course.  Take your pick.  Thank you for help.  You too Tracy.  Don't worry about the despousing.  It'll never happen.  And even it it were to, I heard it is painless.

HMMMM?

How about a game that can be printed out to take to parties:

Pin the YELLOW FEATHER on the neo-chicken.

Various neo-chickens pictures and a yellow feather would be easily printed off to make some nice versions of the game.

Just a childish thought of the top of my head. But a great way to make fun of them at your next party.

All it takes is a pic of your favourite neo-chicken and along the bottom of the page squeeze in a yellow feather that can be cut out.

Some tape to put the pic on the wall, and a thumb-tac and you have everything you need.

I was thinking it would be more effective as, say, a college party game as far as getting the message out. But it sure wouldn't hurt for kids to learn at a young age who the "evil" people are! lol

We could work on a few different games, and get them out there. The sooner we could do something like this the better for '06 and '08 elections.

There is one thing about things like this. It imortalizes the neocons as the laughable fools that they are. Cemnting the public view of them in history as incompetent idiots, and traitors, if we do it right!

Fun and laughter is always a great way to spread an innocent propaganda message...

Feather is a Good Idea if you Remember One Thing: Chickens Aren't The Only Ones With Feathers!!

One of my Cocketials is Yellow and White AND Has Some Great Lookin Yellow Feathers!

The feather alone, with nothing to Explain, anyone would look at it and go 'Huh!'.

The 'Sheeple' probably won't get it even with an Explaination!!
