Cindy's Ad Just Aired on CNN

by susanhu
Fri Aug 26th, 2005 at 10:37:14 AM EST

I cannot describe how I felt, just now, as I stood transfixed in front of my television set -- wondering what channel I'd turned on? could it be CNN? -- and seeing Cindy's ad. Oh, I've seen her ad aired on talk shows. But it's nothing like seeing that ad -- speaking directly to me, on my livingroom television set -- outside a political talking head context.

It is utterly simple and overwhelmingly powerful. I'm thrilled this ad is being aired nationally. Would that this ad could be aired on every TV station. There's not a person alive who would not be touched by Cindy's sincere message and honest, pure face.

She is Casey's mother. And she mourns him. She only wants to know why he died. It is the ceaseless, gnawing question of every mother who's ever lost a child, particularly in a dangerous environment in which a powerful leader has placed her child.

We can donate to the group listed at the ad's conclusion, FamiliesForPeace.com where you can view Cindy's ad.

I'm just glad CNN is running it.  It seems we can't get most TV stations to run anything thta could conceivably be perceived as antagonistic to the Republican Party these days.

Very good of them!  Okay, I forgive the news reader on Aaron Brown the other night ... (see below) .. really, though, it is mind-altering to see that ad run on one's own television set.

What do you do, Susanhu?
With Caffeine IV dripping in
Your own Situation Room? Talking heads on
Every channel as you're flipping 'em
Never a rest or a dead zone
When media matters, you are there -
Crouched in darkness and stale air
Filtering the missives of doom and gloom
And finding light, and writing for Boo?

I think there are two of you working in shifts,
One writes, while the other sifts.
How else can you post all day and night -
And most of the time you're right -
I'm impressed, but take a rest
From the talk of War and "turn out"
Before you are but a burn out.

That's very lovely :)  Thank you :)

I'm fine though... I take lots and lots of breaks.  I take naps almost every afternoon, and I go to bed fairly early -- 10:30 or so.  Set my alarm for 5AM but am bad and hit the button a lot.

And, in the evenings, I spend hours making up food for the raccoons and then watching them play and eat. Last night, I talked to a friend here for an hour and a half on the phone!  What fun!

The focus:  Make this world a little bit better if it's possible.  For my daughter and generations to come.  It's a powerful driving force.

Cindy is awesome!  It's incredible when you realize that one lone woman can have the power to transform public discourse on such a contraversial and disturbing subject!

I thank God for Cindy Sheehan and at the same time wish that I had no reason to know her or anything about her.

I haven't seen the ad.

Can someone download the text of the ad, please?

Did you check the familiesforpeace.com Web site?  Or the crawfordhouse.org Web site?

truthout.com has the videos (scroll down to the bottom for the ad, it's in the right column)
here

All of their videos have been good, and many of them made me cry.
