 fOtofair2006 ~ IndyLib

There is no theme, these are just random shots I've taken over the past year or so that I've liked.

Display:

San Francisco Peaks

In Flagstaff, Arizona. If you're into volcanos, you need to come visit this area, as much of the landscape was created by massive volcanic eruptions long ago.

View from Snowbowl

Situate on the Peaks, from the ski lift here you can see the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Wukoki Ruin

Wupatki National Monument
Amazingly beautiful park including several different ruins, the painted desert, Sunset Crater, stunning desert vistas, and fields of old lava flows.

Great photo! I'd forgotten how blue the sky can be out west.

See...that thing was built eons ago without building codes. Why, oh why can't the city of LA let me build my dream house, without all 2349 codes I have to adhere to? I'd be good. I promise!

Dinosaurs of Holbrook

This isn't a pretty picture because I was going 80mph and shot it out the window, but I decided to include it because I think the subject matter is hilarious -- there really are these massive dinosaurs just hanging out in the desert off the highway right outside of Holbrook, Arizona. The signage for the attraction they go with isn't very prominent so it's easy to come away (such as I did) with the idea that these things are just randomly out there, waiting to eat hikers and cars full of lost tourists.

Wonder how many kids' diapers have had to be changed after whizzing by these things at night?

Heh, right? Seems like a good place to shout from the driver's seat, "If you kids don't stop making noise I'm going to pull over RIGHT NOW and let you out!"

Downtown Flagstaff

This one is just because I'm 12, and it always makes me laugh that there's an intersection of Beaver & Cherry in Flagstaff. Astonishingly, I never stole this sign.

<Beavis & Butthead>hehe...hehe...Beaver and Cherry...heheh.</Beavis & Butthead>

I live near Easy Street in Ann Arbor.  It's the only street in the town with all of its street signs about 20 feet up on telephone poles instead of on the regular 8-10 foot high road sign poles.

I am amazed that they can even keep the street signs. I'd think every kid in town would have those street signs in his/her bedroom.

That corner is downtown, about 2 blocks from the police station, which I suspect protects and serves the sign well. :)

It has smelled absolutely heavenly here for the past couple of weeks. It's all new fireplace smell and pumpkin pie and rain on the autumn leaves everywhere you go. I love it!

Smell of fall? Know what I smell I associate with fall? Forest fires. Fires threatening 1200 homes in a housing development that never should have been built. Living in the city, I kinda get away from that. I do so miss the ash falling, it's a lot like snow. But not cold.

Oh. :( I don't even remember that from Kansas City. I remember: dusty sycamore leaves everywhere, no more lighting bugs, Stevenson's Apple Farm--where we always went for a fall family dinner and got fresh made warm apple cider and apple butter and a lot of plaid. Fall meant I was tartaned up!

It's great that olivia's inspiration pays off in such wonderful photos for the rest of us. Great shot (though the wupatki pic is still my favorite).

It took me forever to learn how to do these shots. It's going to take me forever and a half to learn how to play with colors and light the way you do. :)

I've really figured out a lot since I started taking nearely every day -- apparently, constant repetition can get through even my thick head.

Glad you liked them, boran2. I didn't vacation there, though, I lived in Flag for 11 years! :) Just moved to Ohio this past spring.

You certainly did not need a theme for this beautiful mosaic of images.
