Newt: I'm Not Running, I'm Running

by BooMan

From Taegan:

"I'm going to tell you something, and whether or not it's plausible given the world you come out of is your problem. I am not 'running' for president. I am seeking to create a movement to win the future by offering a series of solutions so compelling that if the American people say I have to be president, it will happen."

-- Newt Gingrich, quoted by Fortune magazine.

And I am not trying to breath, I am trying to intake oxygen so that if I continue to live, it will happen.

I still predict that Newt will win the GOP nomination. What's your prediction?

I predict Mike Huckabee.  But I do not believe he will win Arkansas in the General Election.

I think Jeb will come in at the last minute, and they'll rally behind him. Not that I would be happy with Jeb as president - but if we can pass good voting legislation and see to it that our votes are counted as cast - still a tall offer - I don't think a Republican can win HONESTLY in 2008. No way.

McCain has been doing some big time ass kissing of conservatives lately.  I do believe that it will be him.  (Commenters that disagree will immediately post in reply to this, but they'll be wrong.)

he is amazingly very popular among democrat voters and could easily win the presidency. Hence I hope old Newt wins the primary.

Newt's got charisma.

McCain has cancer.

Giuliani has Bernie Kerik.

And who the FUCK is Mike Huckabee?

Newt's got a shot.

I think Newt'll wear very poorly. People will be sick of hearing him after about 6 months.

Mad Jack McCain has enough time in front of him to implode. He's a dangerous man - as stupid and maleable as our current Dauphin, but much more of an extreme war-monger.

That said, it ain't "the people" who get to decide these things, is it?

We'll have to follow the money.

I think Mitt Romney has a shot at the second slot if he can come out strong in the early contests and hang on for a while.

God, I hate this process - not the theory behind representative government, but what the practice of running for president has become.

Romney is a Mormon, is he not? If so, do you think the evangelical right will support him? I think not. So if he gets the nod, where does that faction of the Republican party go? (further right than they are now is my guess)
