Good Congressional Poll Numbers

In the good news category, it looks increasingly like the wingnuts have overreached. The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll has the Democrats up 14% over the Republicans.

The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted Feb. 28 to March 1, finds the Democrats holding a substantial lead over the Republicans as the party more registered voters currently support in this fall's elections for Congress. More than half of registered voters (53%) favor the Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in their district; only 39% favor the Republican.
Gallup's recent trends on this "generic ballot" question -- from October 2005 through early February 2006 -- found a smaller six- to seven-point lead for the Democrats. However, the current 14-point Democratic lead is similar to a 12-point Democratic lead recorded last August. It is also among the highest seen since the Republicans came into power more than a decade ago.

I find it encouraging that the Republicans' poll numbers are nearly as bad as Shrubya's. Let's see if they continue to clutch this administration to their hearts, or whether they cut 'em loose.

the republican habits are hard to break; however, I do see them not cluching to bush' coat-tail so much now. It is more evident than ever before, I think. I hope that we break their backs this year and also in 08. That would give me such joy!

I don't think they really can disengage from the president at this late date. They've spent the last five years beating the drum of unity and unthinking loyalty to the Führer; it's a little late in the game to manufacture maverick credentials.

Certainly good numbers, but, the overall JAR for congress is pretty much right down there w/ DuhBya's, D or R.

What're the D's going to do to take advantage of it?...that's the real ?. So far, I'm not impressed.

Given Bush's approval numbers, the congressional results should be even higher. I think one of the things these numbers show is that the Dems have failed so far to paint every Republican with the Bush brush. It will take some heavy smarts for candidates to both call the GOP to account for the unmitigated disasters on its watch, and to present themselves as a real alternative.

This year's elections will be, among other things, a battle to overthrow the Dem "consultants", the chronic losers who still somehow command attention despite their quarter century of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Now is the time for activist citizens to help local candidates stand against the GOP and for a return to traditional American values. So far, when you look at individual campaigns and candidates the outlook is mixed at best. But there's never been a better time for citizens to turn the Dem Party around and help it become the majority party now and in the future.

I think the numbers wouldn't look that great if Congress was included. Personally tired of the "pieces" when we need to see the whole puzzle.
