Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fitzmas

Could tomorrow be Fitzmas?

RAW STORY has also learned that an MSNBC report tonight revealed that one of Rove's lawyers said the presidential adviser described his fifth grand jury appearance as "hell." MSNBC's David Shuster appeared live on Keith Olbermann's 8pm show this evening and stated that Rove was surprised by the tone of the questions as well as the length of time he was required to testify.

Shuster agreed with Olbermann that it was "easy to imagine" that Rove's legal situation was the cause of his recent reduction of responsibilities. However, he added, "I don't see there's any chance that Karl Rove's going to resign, barring an indictment."

The three and a half hour duration is considered highly unusual for a fifth appearance before a grand jury, Shuster reported. Also not boding well for Rove is the fact that the grand jury plans to meet tomorrow. Some are speculating that an indictment for Rove may be handed up tomorrow, though others have claimed such a fast turnaround time is unlikely.

Shuster's report had a few more scrumptious details.

...SOURCES SAY ROVE WAS SURPRISED BY SOME OF THE QUESTIONS HE WAS ASKED AND BY THE FACT THE SESSION STRETCHED ON FOR THREE AND A HALF HOURS.

THE SIGNS FOR ROVE HAVE BEEN OMINOUS FOR MONTHS. IN THE LIBBY INDICTMENT, ROVE WAS REFERRED TO AS "OFFICIAL A." THAT'S A DESIGNATION PROSECUTORS ARE REQUIRED TO GIVE WHEN THEY ARE REVEALING PERJORATIVE INFORMATION ABOUT A PERSON NOT YET CHARGED.

THAT'S BECAUSE PROSECUTORS ALMOST ALWAYS END UP INDICTING SOMEBODY IDENTIFIED AS OFFICIAL A. AND IN LOOKING THROUGH THE RECORD OF PATRICK FITZGERALD, HIS OFFICE HAS EVENTUALLY INDICTED OFFICIAL A IN EVERY CASE.

I don't know if the grand jury will indict tomorrow, but I bet Karl isn't going to sleep well tonight.

but mostly because I'm going to take my pain meds, which will put me out.

And also because unlike Rove, I'm pretty sure that I won't be seeing everything I've plotted and schemed for for the last thirty years ravel like an old sweater anytime soon.

I for one welcome our new Twitter overlords. @Omir55

I've been up since 5:00 a.m. I too shall sleep like a baby and undoubtedly awake long before the news on Rove comes out.

RAWSTORY UPDATE:

NYT will report Friday, Fitzmas will likely be 2-3 weeks away. or that Fitz may drop the case.!!  Say what? I bet it's wild speculation or the gray lady drank kool-aid.

Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the special counsel in the CIA leak case, is expected to decide in the next two to three weeks whether to bring perjury charges against Karl Rove, the powerful adviser to President Bush, lawyers involved in the case said Thursday, the NEW YORK TIMES will report Friday.

With the completion of Rove's fifth appearance before the grand jury on Wednesday, Fitzgerald is now believed to have assembled all of the facts necessary to determine whether to seek an indictment of Rove or drop the case.[.]

I saw Shuster's piece tonight, and though I consider him one of the most reliable of the TV reporters covering the story, I'm only able to be guardedly optimistic.  I've had my hopes dashed too many times in the past 2 years to call it a sure thing yet.  But still, he seemed pretty confident in his report, so I'll just wait and see.  However, he did seem a bit extra snarky tonight and a bit smirky about it, so maybe he knows something he can't let out of the bag yet.

Nonetheless, I do have a good bottle of champagne in the basement refrigerator that has been chilling for months, for just such an occasion ... hehe.
