One man wants a time out with respect to the Iranian nuclear crisis:

The head of the United Nations atomic watchdog agency is calling for a “timeout” on the Iranian nuclear issue, with Iran suspending uranium enrichment and the international community suspending sanctions over a programme that Tehran says is for producing energy but which others maintain is for making nuclear weapons.
A key to resolving the issue is a direct engagement between Iran and the United States similar to that with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei stressed in several interviews over the weekend in Davos, Switzerland, where he attended the World Economic Forum.
“I call on all parties to take a simultaneous timeout. Iran should take a timeout from its enrichment activity, the international community a timeout from the application of sanctions, and parties should go immediately to the negotiating table,” he said. “The right track is dialogue, negotiation.”

And one man doesn't:

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - The United States rejected a proposal by the UN nuclear chief to call "timeout" in the Iranian nuclear crisis, saying the UN resolutions already being applied were not up for renegotiation.
"There is a path laid out for suspension and that is Iranian suspension of their enrichment activities to be responded to by the Council. So that is very clear and it's not subject to reinterpretation," the US representative to the United Nations, Alejandro Wolff, said.

The Today Show started yesterday's show with a 10 minute segment on why we're just going to have to attack Iran because they're interfering in Iraq. I couldn't even wade through it there was so much BS, they basically just credulously repeated whatever the administration is saying without any analysis whatsoever.

The docs they seized in the consulate raid are apparently damning evidence, even though they didn't go into any detail about what was contained therein. I got the impression the administration hasn't released any details, they just expect us to take their word that they know what a smoking gun looks like. Evil lying bastards.

Millions of people watch the Today Show, though I doubt I will ever again. It was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. If I were Matt Lauer I would shoot myself in the head out of remorse for what I just "reported".

Did you see the Newsweek report about Bush's visit to the Caterpillar factory? Apparently his majesty tried to run over the reporters present with a tractor, laughing the whole time. No one other than Newsweek bothered to report this at all that I have seen, and even they are doing it online rather than in the magazine. There is no depth of abuse he can inflict on the media that they won't take willingly (and keep off-the-record).

"Does President Bush have it in for the press corps? Touring a Caterpillar factory in Peoria, Ill., the Commander in Chief got behind the wheel of a giant tractor and played chicken with a few wayward reporters. Wearing a pair of stylish safety glasses--at least more stylish than most safety glasses--Bush got a mini-tour of the factory before delivering remarks on the economy. "I would suggest moving back," Bush said as he climbed into the cab of a massive D-10 tractor. "I'm about to crank this sucker up." As the engine roared to life, White House staffers tried to steer the press corps to safety, but when the tractor lurched forward, they too were forced to scramble for safety."Get out of the way!" a news photographer yelled. "I think he might run us over!" said another. White House aides tried to herd the reporters the right way without getting run over themselves. Even the Secret Service got involved, as one agent began yelling at reporters to get clear of the tractor. Watching the chaos below, Bush looked out the tractor's window and laughed, steering the massive machine into the spot where most of the press corps had been positioned. The episode lasted about a minute, and Bush was still laughing when he pulled to a stop. He gave reporters a thumbs-up. "If you've never driven a D-10, it's the coolest experience," Bush said afterward. Yeah, almost as much fun as seeing your life flash before your eyes."

Not even trying to hide the fact that he's an asshole.

Oh yeah, the 'coolest experience' almost running people over..a real laugh riot isn't it...kinda the human equivalent of sticking firecracker up a frogs butt. Thank you Supreme Court for giving us a psychopath as our president.

I personally don't know how anyone can stand to watch those morning talk shows to wade through a few minutes of a story with ten minutes of commercials. It's absolutely maddening and no doubt why I tuned out dozens of years ago.

And yeah the morning media is in on the drumbeat for war with Iran-the whole lot of the sick sorry bastards who call themselves news people don't seem to know the meaning of the word reporter as opposed to stenographer for this administration.
