Here's a pic of the evil Chris Bowers and me meeting with our representative and Philly mayoral candidate Chakah Fattah.

Thanks to Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg of Young Philly Politics for capturing the moment. What's on your mind?

being from new england, the cold hasn't bothered me that much.
I come from a world where the snow starts in late September and ends in the middle of May. MAY!!!

At the next DL, remidn me to regale you with my tales of walkign barefoot through 20 feet of snow, uphill in both directions to a one-room schoolhouse...

So why is Rep. Fattah running for mayor? Seriously? He's in the majority now and inching up the seniority ladder, so why now?

I mean, I know the incumbent is nothing to write home about (I'm not even from Philly and know that) but there was no one else talented enough to run?

Also, are Philly mayors term-limited?

Can't hear ya, Peach!

by AP on Fri Feb 16th, 2007 at 10:23:57 PM EST
There's a two-term limit for Street, which is up; both Cong. Fattah and Cong. Brady, who between them represent most of the city (Allyson Schwartz and Patrick Murphy have the Northeast), are both running, as is former Councilman Michael Nutter, St. Rep. Dwight Evans, former payday lender Tom Knox, and, God bless him, Mayor Street's brother Milton, who's currently under indictment for tax evasion and doesn't even live in the state, a man who makes you year for the days of Roger Clinton and Neil Bush.

Thanks. Though I still don't get why he'd give a safe seat to be mayor, unless of course, he wants to be governor or senator one day.

It's just that he's so smart, and that's so lacking in our national politics. I'd love it if he could remain in the House, but if Philly needs him...OK.

...mentioned one of your FP pieces (with linkage) in my latest multi-blog-crosspost-from-hell.

Just thought I'd give you a heads-up.
