The Delusional Dick Cheney

After Dick Cheney got done telling ABC News that it was a good sign that the Brits are pulling their forces out of Iraq he went back on the attack. He scurried off to East Asia rather than be here in town for the potential conviction of his top henchman. And he continues to say anything and just make shit up in order to maintain the fiction that we are fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq.

ABC News interviewed the vice president in Tokyo, where he told troops aboard the USS Kitty Hawk that the United States would not withdraw until the job was done.

"I want you to know that the American people will not support a policy of retreat," Cheney told the soldiers.

Cheney also had harsh words for Democratic leaders, including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., who says he wants to stop the surge of more U.S. troops into Iraq.

Cheney said Pelosi and other Democrats were pushing a policy in Iraq that would "validate the al Qaeda strategy."

"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we'll do is validate the al Qaeda strategy," Cheney told ABC News.

"The al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people, knowing they can't win in a stand-up fight, try to convince us to throw in the towel and come home and then they win because we quit," he said.

"I think that is exactly the wrong course to go on," Cheney said. "I think that is the course of action that Speaker Pelosi and Jack Murtha support. I think it would be a mistake for the country.

Well, if it's only a mistake then I guess Cheney might know what he is talking about. I'll take a mistake over spending another $100 billion and hundreds more lives on a lie. Cheney is so seriously unhinged at this point that Congress really should consider taking action. Bush said that anyone involved with leaking classified information would no longer be a part of his administration. Libby's conviction (let us hope) will offer a perfect opportunity for Cheney to step down and retire to Jackson Hole in shame.

...the United States would not withdraw until the job was done.

The job has apparently morphed into fucking over as many people as is possible.  Or was that always the job?

Yup.

The "We will fuck you up!!!" tactic.

Old as the hills.

Scare everyone so badly that they will do what you want, no questions asked.

"Did you see what happened to Iraq!!!??? And they didn't even BLINK!!! The US economy and culture kept right on going pretty much as it had. They cannot be successfully opposed."

Yup.

Works, too.

Until it doesn't.

Then...Nuremberg.

Bet on it.

Did ABC report Cheney got a chilly reception in Tokyo?

Japanese Cabinet Ministers have openly denounced US policy in Iraq as childish and accused the Bush Administration of being cocky. The latest blow was last week's agreement on North Korea's nuclear programme which is privately regarded by many in Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Government as an American betrayal. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, could hardly have been more dismissive of Mr Cheney's visit. "Since the other party is coming over," he said yesterday, when asked what was the point of Mr Cheney's visit, "it must have some point for the other party."

The surge of bad feeling towards Japan's greatest friend and ally is symptomatic of the unease which has spread since Junichiro Koizumi stepped down [.]

Probably never even read about Vietnam (the US OR the French experiences).

Or maybe he has and just doesn't give a rats ass about throwing more bodies into the meat grinder on behalf of the oil boyz.

Three Decades of Absolute Power ...
the Story of CEO Dick Cheney ...

Cheney worked on power lines and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union ...

During the Vietnam War from 1959 through 1966, Cheney received a total of five military service draft deferments. Four were S-2 student deferments granted because of his university student status, and one 3-A deferment was granted in 1966 because of his wife's pregnancy ...

I don't get this wish that Cheney would quit. It's almost like the liberal/left needs to believe that Bush isn't really such a bad guy, he's just been misled yet again by bad guys. Bull.

Seriously: does anybody expect things to change just because El Diablo II goes away? From the looks of it, it would just create a false sense of victory or security. As Boo so nicely showed earlier, the only real solution to the current disaster is the impeachment and conviction of Bush and Cheney. Nothing less will do.

FDR's response to progressive demands: "I agree. Now go out and make me do it."
