by BooMan
Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 06:46:54 PM EST

While you watch the Democratic presidential debate you can ask questions of Deputy Campaign Manager Matt Butler, Policy Director Amos Hochstein and other campaign staffers from Senator Chris Dodd's team. They'll be reading this thread and they'll answer some of your questions.

Use this as a thread for not only questions but observations about how the debate it going.

My impression 30 minutes in is that all of the Democrats have kicked ass so far.  We have a strong field.

Ol' Gravel is a firebreather.  He's taking the raging Red title away from Kucinich.

Everyone seems so rehearsed.

Biden just said he opposed Clarence Thomas on the court.  I gotta wonder how he thinks he can get away with that.

Ooh. Asking Hillary upfront if Harry Reid is a traitor...
by BooMan on Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 07:04:39 PM EST
Hillary is coming off pretty well - better than I thought she would...forceful, concise.

Richardson just said he would not fund the troops.

He put The Pentagon Papers into the public record, hence his heartfelt comments.

Here's a questions for the Dodd team. What do you think of Governor Bill Richardson saying that he didn't (initially) want to call for Gonzales' resignation because Gonzales is hispanic?
by BooMan on Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 07:25:39 PM EST
Wrong is wrong.

This reminds me of the free pass New Orleanians gave "Cold Cash" Jefferson and his $90,000 in the freezer.

I would hope Obama wouldn't make that stupid mistake.

OOF.  Biden is a gaffe machine?

He SURE is.

by BooMan on Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 07:28:31 PM EST
His response was brilliant though.

when did Kucinich get religion on Roe?
by BooMan on Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 07:37:30 PM EST
Dodd is now trying to explain his vote for Roberts.

It's hard to forgive.

Williams: Richardson, you are the NRA's favorite candidate from either party.

Richardson: you're right.

Richardson isn't doing himself ANY favors with this debate performance.  Gravel is comical.  Almost as entertaining as Sharpton or H. Ross Perot.

I think any combo of Clinton, Obama, Edwards and perhaps Richardson on a ticket would be unstoppable.

Read Greg Palast's Armed Madhouse before you decide about Richardson. He lay down when the Repugs suppressed the Native American vote in his state. That BTW is what the whole Iglesias attorney scandal is all about.

I know why he's there.  He's indicative of the pre-Reagan Democratic Party.  The one that used to have balls.

Perot was a buffoon.  And let me tell you something about Sharpton.  When he ran for senator some years back, and participated in a debate, he came out looking better than most.

Richardson is not a debater.  This is not his best venue.

Debates are so dry, I like some humor.  And real humor can only come from someone that isn't trying to win.

Nobody supported Kucinich's move to impeach Cheney.  Figures.

Edwards looked like a deer in the headlights thinking about who was his moral leader.
by Second Nature (denn1214 at gmail) on Thu Apr 26th, 2007 at 08:28:46 PM EST
It could have been about religion or it could have been about leaders he admired, like King, Dorothy Day--or George Soros.

I can see how confusing that might have been.

I thought that I heard Keefee Olbermann's voice.  Is he interviewing, too?  Wait a minute...I'm going to have to go back to the living room.
