Bodies Count! More fun for the impeachment- minded

As you probably know this Saturday is a national day of action for impeachment.
Here's what's happening in your neighborhood. Please read on for news about some fun events you can join to help build the buzz.

In San Francisco the folks at http://impeachbush-cheney.com are kicking off the weekend Friday with the launch of a 17-foot IMPEACH blimp in front of Rep. Pelosi's office.

For those who like to spell, the Beach Impeach movement is spreading all over the country. In cities from Brooklyn to Atlanta and from Seattle, Washington to Washington, D.C., activists will spell out IMPEACH NOW! and spread the message across our fair land. Follow the links to register -- it helps to have an idea of how many people to expect.

Over 900 have signed up for the San Francisco event, inspired by the action a few months ago when we lay on the beach to spell IMPEACH! (see photo) big and beautiful in the House Speaker's district. In January we had about 1000 people and a great time was had by all. Brad Newsham, the intrepid organizer is shooting for twice that many people this time, so we can have twice the fun.

With Brad's permission I'm posting excerpts from his email messages:

On Saturday, April 28, "Beach Impeach" organizers will outline a 100-foot high "IMPEACH NOW!" message at Ocean Beach. Our Park Service permit allows up to 2,000 people to come and lie down inside the lettering (please register at www.beachimpeach.org). Participants are asked to ARRIVE BY 10:30 a.m. At 11 a.m. a helicopter (or perhaps more than one) with photographers will arrive overhead and stay for 15-30 minutes. Other April 28 impeachment events are scheduled at more than 100 sites around the US (see www.A28.org), and the event here in San Francisco is the grandaddy. We're hoping to again have a big crowd, get great pictures, and see them go worldwide and help trigger impeachment and a new administration.

We built and sent 'impeachment kits' to organizers in Central Park and Coney Island in New York and to an organizer in Washington DC, and those events are looking promising... but the event in Coachella, CA, to which we also sent a kit, will not be using that kit (it's a box containing rope, strings, and fasteners that will assemble into a 100-foot outline of "IMPEACH!"). So, if you're somewhere in California, and if you think you can attract a crowd of roughly 1,000, I may be able to get this kit to you overnight... You never know... I've known all along that ALL of this is a longshot, but... if even one of the four kits we built and sent gets used successfully, all the work will have been worth it...

-- NEED THREE SAND-COLORED BEDSHEETS -- If you have one or more old sand-colored bedsheets you can donate, please call me...

-- REMINDER -- PRESS CONFERENCE FRIDAY: On Friday at noon the group IBC (impeachbush-cheney.com) will launch a 17-foot yellow IMPEACH blimp in front of Nancy Pelosi's office at 450 Golden Gate in San Francisco... there will be a simultaneous press conference with speakers from IBC, Codepink, World Can't Wait, and me (and YOU are warmly invited)... all the major media folks are expected...

I beseech -- we MUST impeach!

Good night,

brad

If it sounds good to you please help spread the word!

that stepford wife thing the repubs are doing so that impeaching becomes more probable.  It really is beginning to look more and more pathological how the repubs are STILL behind Bush and STILL doing his bidding even with his poll numbers so low.  Sen. Bond, for instance said
that the dems were using the bill for political purposes and looking at poll numbers.  Well gee Bond, I dunno who has been more political here - Bush who has politicized every single nook and granny of the administration or the dems who hear people when they say they are tired of war!

So how to get them to become less robotic and more human?  I think we have to bombard them with mail and emails and phone calls as they think that we are not their constituent.  But if a bunch of us call and carry on it may give them pause.

It is frustrating but we have to bring the I word into everyday discourse. As you say we have to keep up the bombardments of emails, phone calls, and carrying on... LTEs... blogs... word on the street!
