10 Years On: Where Are the PNAC Signatories

by BooMan
Sat May 19th, 2007 at 12:42:39 AM EST

It has been almost exactly ten years since the Project for a New American Century laid out their statement of principles and set this country on the road to preemptive war in Iraq. I thought it would be interesting to see where the signatories of that document are today. So, I looked 'em up. Here's what I found.

Elliott Abrams- Deputy National Security Advisor.
Gary Bauer- current president of the conservative American Values organization.
William J. Bennett- May have a gig with CNN as a bloviator, and is riding high on the Air Force reading list. God help us.
Jeb Bush- Stole election for brother, served two terms as Governor of Florida, and currently serving on the board of Tenet Healthcare Corp.
Dick Cheney- Vice-President of the United States.
Eliot A. Cohen- US State Department Counselor, currently hopnobbing in places like Pakistan.
Midge Decter- When she isn't partying with Conrad Black she is busy being the wife of Norman Podhoretz and mother of John Podhoretz.
Paula Dobriansky- Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs.
Steve Forbes- offering Republican presidential contenders advice.
Aaron Friedberg- Teaching at Princeton University and writing editorials for the LA Times.
Francis Fukuyama- repenting. Sort of.
Frank Gaffney- Doing weird shit as Center for Security Policy president.
Fred C. Ikle- apologizing for his friend and protege Paul Wolfowitz's behavior.
Donald Kagan- Sterling Professor of Classics and History at Yale University. His son, Fred, is the author of The Surge.
Zalmay Khalilzad- U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. He has already served as ambassador to Afghanistan and to Iraq.
I. Lewis Libby- awaiting sentencing for perjury, making false statements, and obstruction of justice.
Norman Podhoretz- getting awards from Scooter Libby fans and making the case for bombing Iran.
Dan Quayle- he's still alive? Well, yes. He's chairman of global investments for Cerberus Capital Management and he's working on that Chrysler deal.
Peter W. Rodman- recently left as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs to take a job at the Brookings Institute.
Stephen P. Rosen- the Beton Michael Kaneb Professor of National Security and Military Affairs at Harvard University.
Henry S. Rowen- appointed on February 12, 2004, by President George W. Bush to be one of the "final two members of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction." He's also a member of the Department of Defense's Defense Policy Board.
Donald Rumsfeld- the less said the better. He was fired as Secretary of Defense.
Vin Weber- serving as chairman of the National Endowment for Democracy, a private, nonprofit organization designed to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through nongovernmental efforts. He's serving as Mitt Romney's policy chairman.
George Weigel- trying to convince Catholics that the Iraq War is just.
Paul Wolfowitz- shit-canned from the World Bank.

They are clearly down, but not out.

This is like a Victoria's Secret catalog of delusional states.  But not nearly as fun.

really knocked Bushco onto their collective butts.  It was a very powerful testimoney, very moving, very real, very gripping.  Nothing  has been real about Bushco, everything is photo ops, everything is staged, everything is illusion.  There was a marked contrast between Comey and Gonzo.  Comey reeked integrity and depth.  Gonzo is a schoolyard bully.

Comey has moved the impeachment posibility closer to reality.

A collection of names that will go down in history as the movers and shakers of the transformation of the grand American republic into a petty dictatorship run by the drug and alcohol addled scion of our country's equivalent of the Borgias.

I didn't realize Weigel was part of that group.  I know him from his weekly column where he rants about dribble like Pro-life is not just anti-abortion, but anti-abortion is infinately more important than the other issues because a fetus is truly innocent.  The rest of us deserve what we get.

Land of the watched, because of the cowed.

Wow, BooMan.  Thanks for this.  The PNAC and all it represents to this country....its horrifying impact....is one of my buttons.  Sets me off!   The OUTRAGE it all represents!   The PRE-MEDITATION of the CRIMES!

Can't remember, but wasn't Bill Kristol one of them?   The s.o.b.

How they DO want to BOMB IRAN now!   Frustrated that it isn't happening.   Not one of them gives ONE DAMN about any one of the dead Americans....much less the Iraqis....

They truly are madmen.  Carried away with their own POWER.

Who would have dreamed this could happen...right under our noses!

Our government....our precious Constitution....trampled on....by these vicious cutthroats/criminals.  Who have lied.  Cheated.  Stolen.  Tortured.  Humiliated.  Murdered.   Cluster bomblets dropped on civilians.  Shock and awe.  D.C. Madame'd.   Personally profited from defense industry private contracts.  Sold out CIA covert agents ....and committed TREASON.   Hired family and friends and INCOMPETENTS.  DELIBERATELY TO DESTROY the U.S. Government.   "Privatize".

Prancing around on aircraft carriers in flight uniforms.  AWOL!!!   Prancing around on aircraft carrier threatening IRAN.  5 F-er!!!

COWARDS!    SLIME!!!     Comb-suckers.   Jeff Gannon lovers.

SLIME!!!

(Don't get me started....)

....and, I would add that Paul Wolfowitz wasn't just President of the World Bank...

he was Deputy Secretary of the Department of Defense and THE ARCHITECT OF THE WAR ON IRAQ

....in case anyone might forget.

I can think of one more.

John Bolton, former non-confirmed U.S. Ambassador to the UN, now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Instute (AKA the old neocons' home).

You are being too kind about the National Endowment for Democracy. It has always been a front for U.S. efforts to implant client governments from Nicaragua in the 1980s through Ukraine, etc.

That is -- it hates democracy, loves compliant oligarchy.

Can It Happen Here?
