Joe Wurzelbacher (aka Joe the Plumber) now says that he was absolutely appalled after talking to John McCain on the campaign bus. I'd give him more credit for mental acuity if not for this:

Asked why he didn’t leave McCain’s campaign if he was “appalled” by the candidate, Wurzelbacher said, “honestly, because the thought of Barack Obama as president scares me even more.”
While Wurzelbacher was critical of McCain during the interview, he had nothing but praise for his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. “Sarah Palin is absolutely the real deal,” he said.

However you want to interpret this piece of historical irrelevancy, it puts a nice capstone on the McCain campaign. No one I know could figure out what the hell McCain was thinking with his not-Joe not-a-plumber campaign. The whole thing was appalling...in the sense that it was such a gross insult to the collective intelligence of the American electorate. To discover that the mascot for the whole faux-populist fiasco was deeply offended by McCain as well? I guess that's something like a seal of approval.

Why the fuck are you talking about Joe the Plumber when the Rod Blagojevich story is (rightly) dominating the national attention? I cannot believe what I am starting to suspect: Blago is a D, therefore BooMan is wishing the story off the front pages? WTF??? It has been MANY HOURS since this MOST SIGNIFICANT POLITICAL STORY IN THE COUNTRY has broken, yet BooTrib has not even nodded in its direction? The credibility of this blog hangs in the balance due to your inexplicable inability to address real-time news.

I cannot overemphasize my disappointment, disillusionment, and disgust at your unwillingness to confront the most significant story of the day.

"Not sure what BOO could add to this story"? How about ACKNOWLEDGING it? How about the threat to democracy that looms: A MN Senate seat that may be resolved by a coin toss? An NY Seat that a non-resident (E Kennedy D-MA) seems to be strong-arming? A DE Senator who is an acknowledged placeholder for the "designated" Senator, Beau Biden? And now this fiasco in IL?

If Boo can't "add to this story" then he ought to void his webspace. And if you honestly feel that he/WE have nothing to "add to this story" then we should just give up the ghost right now. "Not sure what ... 'can be'... add'ed' to this story?" That is the weakest, most indefensible and inexplicable comment that could possibly be offered to this crisis.

what crawled up your ass today. I've written about Delaware, Minnesota, and New York. I don't think this is a crisis exactly.

I agree the Delaware thing is unfortunate and shady. I don't mind Caroline Kennedy being considered for the New York slot...she does live there you know. And Fitzgerald took care of the problem in Illinois. As for Minnesota, we'll win it or we won't. Things seem to be going smoothly there for the most part, although I'd like to find those 133 missing ballots.

Those 133 ballots never existed. It appears it was a counting error on election night.

Dude, you're overwrought. But obviously you think BooMan is a godlike creature whose mere observation of a situation can make all the difference. That's nice. I always like when people appreciate Boo.

Sorry. Inexplicable. Indefensible. Talk about dropping the ball. Seriously-- would kids with colds have prevented you from making even an obligatory remark if Blago had been an R? I am completely flummoxed at the dissociation between BT and the ONLY STORY IN TOWN.

Man, you're fired up today.

Okay. Let me tell you a story. I didn't even read the Blago articles until after writing my first piece of the day. Then Terrance gave me two stories which allowed me to go grocery shopping. Then I ate dinner. And when I was done with that, I watched teevee with 3 sick people.

I briefly thought of writing a piece about it being a good frog-marching day, what with Fossella going to jail, Wide Stance losing his appeal, and Blago getting arrested, but I didn't have the energy.

Frankly, I don't have anything intelligent to say about the Blago affair right now. But I'll give you a thread so you can say intelligent things about it.

Joe must have been a semi-finalist to get on 'Survivor'. He has all the character traits of a loser-winner. The producers missed that one, big time.
