FUTURE SHOCK

This diary is a list of things that will happen if we dont get a democrat elected president in 2008.

Please add your own nightmares.

#1  2 or 3 Justices of the Supreme court will retire or die and will be replaced with conservative judges guaranteeing;

#2 Roe v Wade will be weakened further or reversed.

#3 DOJ will continue to be politicised

#4 there will never be any investigations resulting in any charges being brought against anyone other than democrats....no republican will ever be held responsible for lying, profiteering, covering up, destroying evidence, or breaking any law.

#5  rich people will get more tax breaks.

#6 the middle class will continue to shrink.

#7 the environment will be raped and pillaged further.

#8 our food system will become completely poisoned.

#9 alternative energy systems will get no developmental help from the govt.

#10 our childrens will still be lernin, just less and less.

#11 we will have to hire an army to protect our oil.

#12 more people will hate us and feel so powerless they will turn to suicide bombing our cities, not just their own.

#13 our infrastructure will continue to crumble

#14 less and less people will be covered by any kind of health insurance, less and less people will get any kind of health care.

#15 more and more people will be forced into bankruptcy to cover their medical bills.

Keep it going..............

and dont even think about not voting for either of the democratic candidates......either of them will be better than a republican admin.

where ya gonna go?

i want to go to norway the home of my great grandfather....which i predict will be balmy from global warming in a few years...but there is a very short list of occupations you can have that they find useful and will grant you a long term visa for.

most countries dont want americans unless you have tons of money....then of course you can go anywhere.

I have a couple of ideas, but admittedly no solid plan.

If it came down to it, I think I would have a higher chance than many at making it work.  I'm relatively young (I'll be 30 this fall...yikes!).  I have an engineering degree from a highly accredited university, and a lot of experience in my field (computer engineering).  I can speak a foreign language.  I'm certainly not rich, but I do have a little savings and more importantly, I have zero debt tying me down.

Roe won't actually be overturned, but it's application will continue to be narrowed to near uselessness.  While I don't give Republicans much credit, they realize that overturning Roe would provide a rallying point and mobilization to action like nothing else.  Hell, even an illegal war and officially sanctioned torture have not stirred up the rank and file citizens very much.

Anna, That's a pretty good list.  I can add to it the big changes to FISA that are looming.  There is a scary front page post at big orange right now.  FISA Judges will become little more than clerks.  Really scary shit.

Fear will keep the local systems in line. -Grand Moff Tarkin Survivor Left Blogistan

i think if they get a republican pres and 2 or 3 more conservative judges they will just go ahead and reverse it....what are people going to do?  riot in the streets?   they will just declare martial law...have a few parades with puppets like we do for the anti war movement? we have already given over so many of our rights and we are so asleep, i dont think anybody even cares and by the time they do it will be too late.

Anna, thats a very good summary. It helps to keep people focused. You should repost this a couple more times before the general election.
