Carville's Brand of Loyalty

by BooMan
Sat Mar 29th, 2008 at 04:01:15 PM EST

I kind of admire James Carville's loyalty in a way, but I have a problem with a guy who writes letters of recommendation for Scooter Libby explaining the merits of stickin' with his friends. There's well deserved loyalty and then there is inexplicable loyalty. For a man whose wife worked in Dick Cheney's office to deign to explain principle to the rest of we peons is more than a little too rich.

Perhaps no couple is more vested in the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton dynasty than the Matalin-Carvilles. That's not loyalty to any principle. It's just loyalty to power. And it's precisely that four-headed dynasty that has governed this country so poorly over the last 16 years that we find ourselves stuck in the morass of Iraq, with few friends and less good will.

Carville can call Bill Richardson a Judas if he wants. But we can all think less of him for doing so.

Display:

It's Hillary's "precious". Nobody else better stand in the way...

It also seems like a strange concept of loyalty that, because of what Bill Clinton has done for Richardson, anything is owed to Hillary Clinton. If Chelsea decides to run for office at some point, will support for her also be expected of anyone Bill Clinton ever helped?

by Renee in Ohio on Sat Mar 29th, 2008 at 04:32:19 PM EST
:make sign of aversion:

Don't even think of Chelsea Clinton running for anything!

NO MORE CLINTONS!  NO MORE BUSHES!

EVER!!!

NO DAMNED DYNASTIES!

Yes, I'm shouting.  I'd use red ink and extra large type if I could.

We fought a war to free us from imperialism and inherited power and insanely inbred monarchs.  The last thing we need is to continue down this path to absolute power concentrated in the hands of theocratic incompetents who feel it is their divine right to rule over the rest of us.

:pffffft:

Ms Clinton is supporting her mother's lies and her father's foreign entanglements (aka bribes).  She isn't worthy of consideration for any political seat.

is the most eloquent Alice Walker. She has endorsed Obama.  Alice Walker is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and poet who also has received the Humanist of the Year award from the American Humanist Association.

Compare and contrast:  Carville, Steinem, Penn et al. and Walker.

James "Pond Scum" Carville? He has ever so faint traces of hard-core democratic principle left, as evidenced when he goes nasty on George Bush. But his moral evolution as a human being sadly ended on K Street many years ago now. He and his wife must have discord and a 51 percenter in the White House, and both of them will do whatever it takes to make that happen--it keeps the money rolling in. Remember, this is the scumbag who called Matalin in 2004 to tip her off about Kerry's stance on Ohio voting, giving the Republicans an early and much-needed tactical heads up as they conspired to secure the stealing of the state. Judas?

Booman: make that the past 27 years, from the start of Bush I's vice presidency through the present day. Practically all the challenges we face today were created by the incompetence and greed of these twin dynasties, either directly or through inaction.

Kill because somebody was killed. Get killed because he killed. Do you think peace will ever come like that?

And Matthew Dowd is right: Had it been the Fourth of July, I probably would have called him Benedict Arnold

Except Arnold betrayed his county for personal gain.

Richardson cost himself a valuable friendship to do what he felt was right for his country.

So if he's Judas in this analogy, who's Jesus

THAT's funny... and true.

Bill Richardson's response was that the Clinton people felt they were entitled to the presidency. In my mind, that is a debatable hypothesis.

So if Richardson was so tight after all these years with the Clintons that he needed to be loyal at all costs, who better than he to know their POV?

lol, Renee, that Gollum/Carville is so harsh.. in a funny way.

I just can't understand Carville.. therefore I don't trust him. I mean, Mary Matalin?

I just could not marry anyone that diametrically opposed to me politically. I know that happens all the time.. but Mary Matalin???  It's too much like Santa hooking up with the Grinch.

I don't think they are all that diametrically opposed to each other.  They are both playing the same power and money game.  Just for different teams.

I'm not even sure they're playing for different teams.

Hillary for NY Governor is being floated as her consolation prize.

No way. The Clintons' political careers need to be ended...thrown out of the party. Time to stop this infamy.

Well, "You can't vote for war and disown the results"

<GASP> sorry 'bout that idreit....l find that proposition extremely far fetched.

Certainly explains why Spitzer suddenly and abruptly got the chop. The only question is... Consolation prize from the Democrats? Or reward for executing a dirty deal from the Republicans?

Kill because somebody was killed. Get killed because he killed. Do you think peace will ever come like that?

us poor brown people can't due nothing on our own unless we have a patron like gringo Bill and Hillary.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patron_system

Doesn't Carville realize how demeaning to Latino/Latina Community. I don't think Hillary did anything to get Gov. Richardson elected.

Is the person indebted to Hillary too:

Bill and Hillary must have gotten her this job too?

Somebody explain how this conniving little toad has managed to keep what passes for his career afloat as long as he has.  Because, really, the boy has no concept of loyalty.  Lying to a Grand Jury and to investigators and obstructing an official investigation are not admirable traits, nor are they signs of loyalty to one's friends.  They are indicators of a craven liar trying to save his own worthless hide from prosecution, something that required that he protect those who had no qualms hanging him out to dry if it meant they would be shielded from prosecution themselves.

grammar nazi?

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
