What do you think the main themes of the presidential campaign will be?

Display:
.
OBAMA: CHANGE the way politics is run in Washington. Hand power back to We the People in accordance with the Constitution .. and we don't want Bush III policies and cronyism.

MCCAIN: It's about our SECURITY and immigration. Our enemies out there are watching the elections ... Hamas and Al Qaeda prefer a U.S. President called Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

It'll boil down to another dirty campaign and swiftboating.

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."

...a little aside from all of the others, and as a little old lady who does not like change,,,,,,,,I am all for it!...:o) Anything can and should be better that what we have had in the past 8 years!!!

I heard something from one of my peers at work the other day that said that VN vets do not like change....I said what the hell are you referring to, young one, we have been changing since our company has been bought out for over a year and a half now.  I am still here, am I not?!  BS  That ended that one in a hurry.

Now I was sceptical as to Dean's 50 state strategy but as I sit back and watch what is going on and how well Obama has done in co-ordination with him on this, it is working and working well.

I am very pleased to see this change going on and welcome it with open arms.  I hope and want it to help us all for a better country in the end.  One in which our constitution will flourish once again and make ppl happy and secure, but always vigilant.

Just from my heart to you all here.  I admire you all to think on your feet and to you, Boo, you are a great analyst.  Keep up the good work as well as the rest of you great ppl here.  I admire anyone with whom I can learn from.  Hugs

Oh yes and thanks again for a forum of which we all can have a say and not get booted for it.  ;o)

Brenda: Make eight years twenty eight (as in when Ronnie got in) and I agree with you 100 percent. Bill was the most Republican of the Democratic Presidents of the past century, so I consider him part of the new conservatives. :))

It is time for Democrats to remember who got us in this mess, oppose them and not each other.

CHANGE vs. EXPERIENCE.

From Obama's side:

There is more that connects us than divides us.

From McCain's side:

Don't trust the young black guy.

Also - expect a lot of HOPE vs. FEAR. McCain will tell us of all the terrorists coming to get us, and how Obama is too inexperienced to protect us.

Yum. I was also thinking that Obama and McCain could each choose their favorite Sonny Rollins album, write it down on a piece of scrap paper to be held by Kathleen Harris and not revealed until the conclusion of the election. The American people could weigh in, at a series of outdoor cuy barbecues and wine tastings, on their favorite Sonny Rollins album. They would also write down their choices on a scrap of paper to be held and counted by Antonin Scalia. If either one of the candidates favorite album is the one selected, then obviously they would win. If neither was selected then some combination of time difference between the recordings, number of common sidemen and that type of thing would be used determine the winner. If the American people choose one of the Steely Dan albums Sonny appeared on, effective control of the U.S. Government would be turned over to a coalition of Mexico and Sweden. Then we'd all be drugged and deported in the middle of the night.

Good choice. And, if it won, it would carry the side benefit of not having us deported. I can see entire media strategies being devised around this. If you don't welcome our new Swedish overlords or look forward to your eventual deportation, scribble Saxophone Colossus on a scrap of paper when you attend the BBQ and Wine Tasting next week.

Well, that's where the voting takes place. I was originally thinking about having it in a central location like New Jersey, but I guess that wouldn't be fair to people who don't live in either the New York or Philadelphia areas.  Apparently the country extends West a bit. I guess we'd have to hold a bunch of them. Sort of like a traveling carnival featuring a sweaty, stinky Antonin Scalia collecting scraps of paper and cocktail napkins with Sonny Rollins album titles scribbled on them. As per Man Eegee's suggestion, we'd also need to round up a ton of guinea pigs.

One problem this presents is how to keep the candidates from revealing their choice while the voting is still going. What's to keep Obama or McCain from posing for pictures while standing in the middle of the desert dressed up like a cowboy for instance? Some sort of an isolation chamber or a medically induced coma would probably be a workable solution.

I just KNEW that album was going to be at the end of the above link.

AG

P.S. I believe that the campaign itself serves as a sort of isolation chamber or else all of the candidates would have a better idea of what the people on the ground are really thinking, and as far as "medically induced comas" are concerned?  I have a strong suspicion that after a year of campaigning they are already in some sort of coma...probably at least partially induced by the amount of Big Pharma meds that they must be taking to endure the travel and publicity pace.

Later...

Well "ass" in this context is part of the "adorable" modifier, so there really isn't an "ass kitten". You can't really use "assed"  as in "Adorable assed kitten" because then you'd be making a judgement on the adorableness of cat asses. Probably not something you should admit to.

via Crooks and Liars:  GOP has chosen very well - it's actually a cry for HELP:

GOP's new slogan - "The Change you deserve"

just also happens to be the registered marketing slogan for an anti-depressant drug - Effexor XR.... also known as Venlafaxine, is approved for the treatment "of depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder in adults."

ya betcha.

The irony grows. The makers of Effexor XR got slapped by the FDA for exaggerating the effectiveness of their product in their advertising.

Themes for the upcoming Presidential campaign:

  1. Obama's dead mother was a Red.

  2. Obama's half brother is a revolutionary in Kenya.

  3. Obama is still channeling Reverend Wright.

  4. Obama favors black people.

  5. Obama is angry. And black.

  6. Obama helped build bombs back in the sixties with the Ayers guy.

  7. McCain is a swell guy, he's kind of a maverick, he jokes around and he'll wear a flag pin, unlike someone else.

  8. Did you see the picture of Obama dressed like a Muslim?

  9. Obama's middle name is Hussein. What does that tell you?

11. Obama doesn't support our recent bombing and invasion of Iran because he's a traitor.
