New Blog: The Sanctuary

by Steven D
Tue May 20th, 2008 at 06:58:13 PM EST

We know what's going to happen in the election results tonight, so instead of pontificating about that, I thought I'd point you to a new community blog The Sanctuary created by, among others, our renowned Booman Tribune member, friend and blog colleague Man Eegee. The Sanctuary is a community blog ...

... where human-rights, civil-rights, and progressive activists will be discussing issues of concern for all those interested in humane and practical immigration reform, migrant-rights, human-rights, and the greater struggle of all who those have left friends and family behind to start new lives in new lands.

I urge all BooTribbers to visit The Sanctuary, join the community and participate, if you are willing.

I just posted the link to a blogging group I belong to since I know quite a few of the bloggers deal with immigration issues all the time.

It was my pleasure.  And the site looks great.

thx, refi - we really, really appreciate the solidarity.  It's hard to blog about these things sometimes, especially over the past couple of years as families have been ripped apart - but we're going to do our best to keep their stories on the front burner.

We all need to work together and try and help end this foolishness.  The republican outlook of hatred is not American.  America is a land of immigrants and there has to be some way to work out a immigration policy that does not destroy families or dehumanize people.  We also have to make damn sure any trade agreement we enter with another country applies fair wages and safe working conditions to help better other countries as well as our own.

Please, if you can, send a few bucks to the good sister. The aftermath of these horrible raids can be severe on the seperated families. After living on the border a number of years and still in the general area, I can attest to the hardship placed on these families. They need all the help they can get. Also, it's a great site. Those of you involved are to commended.
