Message to NPR's Scott Simon: McCain Flipflopped on Immigration

I find Scott Simon, host of NPR's Weekend Saturday, something of a wet noodle.

This week Gebe Martinez from Politico.com had to set him straight when he served up the standard MSM myth about McCain's stand on Immigration:

Scott Simon [2:30]: Is Sen. McCain entitled to say, 'Look, I stood up to my own party on the Immigration issue when it was considered to be political suicide'?
Gabe Martinez: No, he's not entitled to say that because in fact when it got to be a treacherous political issue for him, he backed away from his immigration bill.
Let's review history a little bit. In 2006, he had his name on the McCain-Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Bill.
In 2007 as his primary campaign got more difficult precisely because of his stance for [the] Comprehensive Immigration Bill, he backed away from it...

npr is rapidly becoming an acronym for not particularly relevant.

they're still feeling the consequences of the BushCo™ appointments of loyal conservatives to the cpr board of directors, particularly kenneth tomlinson...who, unfortunately, have a great deal of influence over content.

the community radio station l've been involved with for 20 years no longer carries it, primarily because of political reasons.

Well, to tell you the truth, I find much of their material quite all right -- particularly when you compare it to the competition.

This particular exchange though -- it was a revelation. Simon asked the question in a completely matter-of-fact way and was immediately slapped down by Martinez. I'm sure Simon gasped.
