MoDo Attacks

MoDo weighs in on ComedyGate:

At first blush, it would seem to be a positive for Obama that he is hard to mock. But on second thought, is it another sign that he’s trying so hard to be perfect that it’s stultifying? Or that eight years of W. and Cheney have robbed Democratic voters of their sense of humor?

Can't the New York Times buy out her contract or something? Is there a reason Dowd can't be canceled like Sex in the City? Do we need to know what she thinks about doing blow? Does anyone? My hostility to MoDo was on hiatus while she was imprisoned behind the firewall. But now that she is free, her toxins are again infecting the body politic. We need a national hazmat suit to deal with her putrid column.

I refuse to have this kind of humor

Ms. Dowd is the relentlessly gossipy Alpha-girl from your small-town high school. . . that has followed you to college! We all knew this girl--she who must be tolerated to get through the four hellish years but who we never wanted to hear from again once we escaped our narrow minded hometown.

MoDo--please just go away. You are making America dumber.

I agree with you, Booman.  I used to like her columns but of late I think she is trying too hard to be funny herself.

She was just dreadful when she attacked Clark, Judith Steinberg Dean, Theresa Heinz Kerry, et al. Interestingly enough, when she doesn't try so hard to be clever or funny, she can actually write a thoughtful column.  Too bad she doesn't stick with that kind of writing.

Given the paucity of high quality journalism jobs and the prestige of the NYT, you'd think they'd have a stable of columnists second to none.

How do you know she isn't the best they can find. Say they fire her and replace her with Michelle Malkin, then what? Be careful what you wish for.

How do I know?  Because I am part of a journalism family.  We are up on such things.

Why does Obama hate comedy writers?  He's so near-perfect that he's robbing them of their livelihoods.

Oh, there you are, Perry. -Phineas -SLB-
