The Good News

Jesus is an American! Here's the proof in red white and blue.

Ps. Don't tell anyone, but it looks like he's white, too. Who knew? I always thought he was a Jewish guy from some little hick town near Galilee. Just goes to show what you can learn from the internets.

Looks like a dirty fucking hippie to me. He even wears the flag the way the hippies used to. Probably calls himself "the prince of peace" or somesuch nonsense. If I had my way, we'd have guys like this tortured and killed as an example to the others!

if Jesus was alive today, he'd probably be on the "no-fly list". Does Jesus approve of Torture of detainees?? I don't think so..
by americanforliberty on Fri Jul 4th, 2008 at 03:00:15 PM EST
Even worse, he advocates leaving behind material possessions to follow another path.  You do NOT get more unamerican than that.

I dunno.  He looks a little like a Norseman to me.  Is he from Minnesota?

Setting aside the fact that those from Galilee likely did not look like this--these folks can either be a Christian or a flag-worshiper. Not both.

But his eyes look suspiciously like he's a pot smoker. . .but then, why wouldn't he be?

Maybe he took the same treatment Michael Jackson had to lighten his skin. . .dunno. . .but I always thought he was much darker and "Middle Eastern" looking. And what happened to his black hair?

I want to see this image giving Stephen Colbert fake-fits-of-ecstasy. What a double whammy here!

Jesus wears a dress made out of an American flag?

I hope the right wing never hears about this,

their heads would explode.

These kind of 'jesus' pictures always freak me out-so far removed from reality on so many levels yet way way to many american's think a picture like this epitomizes everything 'good' about america..and separation of church and state-ha-can't get much more church and state entwined with crappy pictures like this.

A picture like this should be labeled as one of those 'look for what is wrong in this picture' things.  As others have mentioned above-who knew that jesus was some white, reddish haired hippie looking dude who way back when knew the U.S. was gonna be THE country.

Like I said these kind of pictures freak me out-because of the mentality of the people who believe these pictures are righteous patriotic/religious pictures.  The only ones worse are ones like this with an added american eagle with it's wings spread out over jesus..the very worst of the jingoism displayed in one fell swoop. And my personal pet peeve about the eagle being our national bird-noble bird my ass-eagles are freaken scavengers/vultures-how did we end up with that lousy bird as our 'noble' bird?

For another take on what an American looks like, try this. The photographer (me) had nothing to do with creating this tableau.

One of the better Jesus pictures I've seen was in the second extended back story of the Yummy Fur comic books. Very Semitic-looking and had the attitude of an impatient teacher. The worst was in the Book of Mormon. Eek! A short-haired Jesus!!!

Which cover # is it?  Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see it on the page you linked.

Actually, the Good News is:  The Second Coming is a righteous, pissed-off woman.

She will not be wearing a flag, natch.
