And the outbreak of sneezing seems to have passed, thank goodness.

I awoke this morning to find I had quite stupidly forgotten to replace the coffee pot in the brewer last night when I set the thing to go off with the timer. Oy, what a horrible mess! Hope everyone else's day began much better than that.

I've done that too, as well as forget to add the coffee, so I get up to a nice hot pot of...hot water.  Lately I've changed to cold brew coffee and boy is it good.

What is cold brew coffee?
by CabinGirl on Tue Aug 19th, 2008 at 07:56:29 AM EST
[ Parent ]
In a nutshell, you mix a pound of coffee and nine cups of cold water and let it brew on your counter top for 12 to 24 hours.  It produces a coffee concentrate that you then reconstitute by adding either hot water, or like I do in the summer, cold milk.  You get a really rich coffee taste without the acidity, and the concentrate keeps in the fridge for 3 weeks, though we tend to use it within one just because we have so many coffee/iced coffee/iced mocha drinkers around here.

They serve cold-brew at Borders and it's fantastic.  But I remembered reading about it a couple of years ago and thought about trying it but it seemed too weird.

Hope you get many great hikes.
A blast of 'fall' back east - only 60 this morning - forecast high only 76. In other words, a superb day emerging outside (still dark).

She called the office twice today, just to chat. She'll still have some radiation to go through and a new chemo pill of some sort that's not nearly as sickening as the stuff they were giving her before. Thanks for the good wishes - I'll pass them on.

BTW my computer is fixed and I'll be around more.

Hope everyone is doing fine.

Hiya CG.

I'm miss you too.  Although with the old computer I could read some stuff before it froze up, I saw the the kids are starting back to school.

School is in here (high school and college).  The damned traffic jams are the pitts.  I actually had to wait one whole red traffic light until I could get through.  I sometimes wonder if people suffer the grid lock we do here?

I really like old vehicles as subjects, especially when there's stuff growing up through them. There are a couple of artists here who have done some nice renderings of scenes like that.
