Deep Thought

Why didn't McCain just pick Hillary?

Display:
maybe they're floating this with the thought that they may have a little extra time to actually have to accept her as the candidate:

GOP could delay convention if Gustav hits

DENVER: The Republican Party may hold off on its national convention next week if Tropical Storm Gustav turns into a hurricane and strikes the Gulf Coast, a spokesman for presumptive presidential nominee John McCain said Thursday.

Gustav was gaining momentum off the coast of Jamaica and headed on a trajectory toward New Orleans, which was hit three years ago Friday by Hurricane Katrina. If it strikes the Gulf Coast by Monday, that would occur right as the GOP is convening its quadrennial gathering in St. Paul, Minn., on the heels of the Democratic convention this week.

Party officials presumably don't want to be holding what is normally a celebration at a time when Gulf Coast residents may be evacuating their homes for the second time in three years.

"Sen. McCain has always been [in]sensitive to national crisis - in the 2000 race he postponed his announcement [to run for the presidency] because of the situation in the Balkans - and we are monitoring the situation very closely," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said...

Man arrested in slashing of Obama campaigner

According to police, the unidentified suspect approached and began to shout slurs and insults at the campaigner, who listened, thanked the man for his views and asked him to leave.

The angry man complied, but quickly returned and pulled out a knife and slashed the victim in the face.

This apparently happened with Police nearby!!!

Has Hillary made a statement?

Let's give Sen. Clinton some credit here. She turned him down, obviously.

Great question. WHy didn't McCain just pick Hillary? Maybe she just said too many nasty things about him, yet, if one were to guage her chances to get the presidency, then certainly McCain was the track to take. Obama may not get assassinated, but there is always a good chance that cancer will recur, and then what?

Of course, that is not my hope for McCain or anyone. But you have to wonder if Bill didn't give it some consideration, especially after Hillary hyped McCain on the experience issue. You remember, the him and me ready, the smart Black boy inexperienced.

Was that what she thought she had on Obama, you think?
