Happy Aug. 6th PDB Day

by BooMan
Wed Aug 6th, 2008 at 09:29:51 PM EST

It's the seventh anniversary of the day that the CIA briefed George W. Bush about bin-Laden's intention to hijack American airplanes, use explosives, and attack federal buildings. George W. Bush's response?

"All right. You've covered your ass, now."

Then he went and made an ostentatious display of clearing brush from his prop of a ranch.

Display:
It's also the very unhappy anniversary of the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima.

I've always wondered why nobody marks the anniversary of the firebombing of Tokyo - over 100,000 civilians were killed in that raid - or the firebombing of Dresden, a purely cultural target of little military significance where at least 25,000 civilians, possibly as many as 100,000, were killed.

The Bombing of Hamburg wasn't so great either.

An ass-covering PDB pales by comparison.

And he hasn't since, been able to stop having to cover his own ass.

You forget, McCain will.

Apparently he's around abouts the gates of hell.

As we all watch McCain is fictionalizing himself in order to cross into the equally fictional Realm of Satan to final catch the boogey-arab. He's a true patriot.

I recall asking why BT had no mention of the anniversarry of the annihilation of Hiroshima last year, and now once again there is no mention, save for Lisa's comment above, which I appreciate.

Fuck George Bush and fuck the democrats who greased his skids.

why don't you write nasty comments on the anniversary of the firebombing of Tokyo or Dresden, or the Coventry Blitz for that matter?

Estminated Death Toll:

Dresden: up to 100,000
Tokyo: up to 100,000
Hiroshima: 70,000, with as many as 70,000 dying later from radiation poisoning.

I fail to see what's nasty about my comment. Fuck the democrats who greased G's skids? Please. You said yourself that it's becoming hard to defend Obama with a straight face. You ought to be able to agree that the bulk of democrats, especially since taking control in 06 have cornered the market on the Jiffy Lube franchise.

That you failed to honor the anniversarry of the annihilation of Hiroshima, which was really just a live test of American weaponry and the beginning of 60 years of nuclear terror? Yeah, it's bothersome. But listen, I'll take your advice and do my damndest to call out the front page for occasionally losing sight of it's responsibilities to report on things other than explaining away Obama's latest doe-see-doe.
Good enough for you?

Did it ever occur to you that I don't keep a calendar of US atrocities so that I can honor the anniversaries?

Come on man, it's Hiroshima. Where's Steven?

he's on vacation and no doubt contemplating whatever atrocity the US carried out on some past August 7th.

...Then GWB was heard barking the order "PBR me ASAP!"...For real, that's how it went down...<grin>
