Well I can tell you that it makes me more afeared that the McDuh would return to Washington to polish off the economic crisis. What a stunt and since when has it been acceptable for a presidential candidate to demonstrably prove that he can't or won't multi task.

It's breathtaking that a candidate wants to duck out on an event where he and his opponent could discuss one of the most pressing political issues in at least a generation. Isn't he openly admitting that he sees debates and politics in general as irrelevant to government policy? He doesn't have time to get the public involved when the only ones who matter are at "a leadership meeting in Washington".

Not much of a surprise that that's how he sees things, but amazing that he's so flagrant about it. I guess he knows that his base won't notice.

It is too much work for Sen. McCain, he lacks the stamina to prepare for his debate and work with his fellow Senators. Someone, give John a Blackberry, a laptop computer, and a lesson on how to use e-mail.

On Monday McCain was stating, "The fundamentals of the economy are strong."

He is a self-professed ignoramus regarding Economics.

He has supported and worked for eliminating economic regulations and oversight - the root cause of the current mess - for 30 years.

He is now suspending his presidential campaign and running back to DC to 'fix' a "historic" crises?

    This is a critical time for our country. While I appreciate that both candidates have signaled their willingness to help, Congress and the Administration have a process in place to reach a solution to this unprecedented financial crisis.

    I understand that the candidates are putting together a joint statement at Senator Obama's suggestion. But it would not be helpful at this time to have them come back during these negotiations and risk injecting presidential politics into this process or distract important talks about the future of our nation's economy. If that changes, we will call upon them. We need leadership; not a campaign photo op.

    If there were ever a time for both candidates to hold a debate before the American people about this serious challenge, it is now.

This is more than just McCain's debate. This is also an equisite time where the Rep Congress is divided, incoherent and terribly afraid of coalescing behind one plan, particularly since Pelosi seems hell bent to force their support on the bailout.

McCain in a debate, spouting policies and programs before the party has hammered out what they can live with would destroy any options they have left to survive Nov.

I hope Obama holds his ground and doesn't agree to postpone the debate.  They have a perfect opportunity to make McCain look weak.  What a bizarre campaign this has turned out to be from day one.
