Serious Question

by BooMan
Tue Sep 9th, 2008 at 05:41:23 PM EST

Does anyone else agree with me and the AP that is seems like Sarah Palin was pre-programmed to say like four things and she can't say anything else? You pull her string and she says: "I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better."

You pull her string again and she says, " I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay." [A broker sold it at a loss].

You pull her string again and she says, "And I thought we could muddle through without the governor's personal chef - although I've got to admit that sometimes my kids sure miss her." [The chef was reassigned as a "constituent relations assistant" in the governor's office and later to the state museum].

You pull her string again and she says, "I told the Congress "thanks, but no thanks," for that Bridge to Nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, we'd build it ourselves." [Total Mooseshit].

Seriously, is she a wind-up doll or a candidate for next-in-line to the presidency?

She reminds me of that talking Barbie doll that said "Math is difficult" or something to that effect.

One way or the other, this darkness has to give....

Her role is to introduce and get crowds for McCain. This afternoon's CNN was classic. Sanchez has a new schtick--playing clips and monitoring online comments. They played Biden and got great comments. Then they play Palin/McCain and he actually admits: "I can't find any proMcCain comments." They go to a completely different topic, then come back, play a lot more McCain and come up with a couple pro-McCain comments.

Honestly, I do not believe these polls.

I saw elsewhere that the polls have increased their sampling of Republican voters. Voila, McCain moves ahead. It's a simple trick any pollster can do.

Because if it's a runaway election for Obama, there's no news, and no point in many republicans bothering to vote. And that scares the heck out of the republicans who predominantly control those polls.

Funny story from my own area.

Two years ago a woman was running for office.  She was not up to the job, but had been encouraged to run by the local Republican establishment.  Sound familiar?

At a public forum, the candidates were asked questions submitted by the audience.  This woman had a binder, clearly divided into topics.  Before long, we realized that when she was asked a question, a person in the audience held up one, two, three or more fingers.  That was the number of the answer she was to give.  So she flipped to the appropriate section in the binder and read the answer under the proper number!  Is this hilarious or what?  Pretty sad, too.  You'll be glad to know she lost big time.

"she lost big time.

That's not going to happen with Palin. She us the most dangerous person in the United States.

I agree. And, unfortunately, that tells us a lot about our fellow Americans--things I'd rather not know.

Yes, that is the biggest issue. If the American people are stupid enough to re elect Bush, and then, after everything Bush has put them through, to elect McCain with an igorant, hypocritical religious fanatic liar as his VP, then there really is no hope for this country.

You might want to watch the Alaska gubernatorial debate for your answer.  Been running it on C-SPAN's Road to the White House.  No one here - including me - would call her a significant challenge.  Then again, I thought the same thing about G.W., and look what happened.  Something about "misunderestimating"  . . .

A large part of the problem is that Obama has not shown people that he is serious about fixing things. Here's an excellent piece:

The Obama Poll Drop

what the lib-Dems don't get: When you talk the talk of change, you've also got to walk the walk. Otherwise, you look like John Kerry or Al Gore. You know, two guys who took the voting public for fools by refusing to stand firm on their issues, changed issue-horses in mid-stream and, as a result, were both L.O.S.E.R.S.

Earth to the lib-Dems: This is no time to silence yourselves when it comes to the issues. This is the time to stand firm, talk tough and demand that your beloved Obama/Biden ticket listen to you. You know, kind of like the Christian right threatened to stay home unless one of their own was put on the McCain ticket. And then down came Palin.

Sadly - if not completely predictable - this election is starting to look like a rerun, complete with the liberal "shock, shock, shock!"

Yes, indeed: It's the issues, stupid.

Obama's whole demeanor does not at all inspire confidence. In interviews, he's got this defensive tone, with every answer projecting the attitude, "You know I'd like to change things, but it's really not that easy. There's an awful lot of powerful interests that I can't afford to cross."

Obama needs to talk directly to the people to bypass those interests, the way FDR did, but Democrats have long lost the ability to do that.

I am a Democrat.  I support Barak Obama totally.  His speeches inspire me.

However, I just watched him on Olberman, and for such a lightweight appearance, I was shocked at how poorly he handled the interview.  He did not seem confidant at all.  He ummed and uhhed.  He avoided questions.  For Goddes sake, he was asked what he thought of being called "uppity" and he completely avoided the question.  It would have been so much better if he simply stated "I don't care to respond to bigots" or something like that.

Maybe I was hypercritical, but I don't think so.  He can give an awesome and inspiring speech, but can he handle the press and the debates?  I was left doubting and that made me sad.

Was that just a bad day for Obama?

Remember - we didn't elect George W. Bush either time. So don't use that as a comparison.

If there IS a real election this year, Obama will win.

I'm not registered yet, but fwiw I'll be sure to vote on a paper ballot when I do.

"we didn't elect George W. Bush either time"

It was close enough to count as an indication of supreme idiocy on the part of the American voting public.

The truth surfaces on Sara Palin

Watch this Video that TPM captured via Alaska CBSNews 11:

Alaska Knows the Real Story of the Bridge to Nowhere

Well, "You can't vote for war and disown the results"

by idredit on Tue Sep 9th, 2008 at 06:35:03 PM EST
Seriously, is she a wind-up doll or a candidate for next-in-line to the presidency?

She is both of course.

Reagan was the first one...run by Haig and Bush I.

Bush II was the second.

And she...if she and McCain win and McCain  conveniently (of otherwise) is not capable of governing, which on the evidence of his stammering, mechanical and confused sounding public appearances is actually quite likely...she wilkl be the third.

Run by whoever the CheneyRove axis decide to run her.

Maybe Lieberman.

That's the plan, bubbelehs.

Bet on it.

Can they get away with it?

If not...no harm done. They stonewall Obama (who if he does win will do so by a nose hair due to Palin's input in this election) for a few years and then take him down Carter-style.

That's the plan...

Plan B From Outer Space.

I think Sara is the best candidate for the job one heart beat away from another job.

Knowing the laughing stock the Preidency of the US has become in much of the world, who best to take over the job than a person who like Sergeant Schultz   hears nothing, sees nothing and does nothing.

In fact based on her performance to date as McCain's second banana,I would go so far as to say she should replace McCain at the top of the ticket today.

Sarah Palin - The Stepford Candidate
by John Brown (ruptured_duck@notmail.com) on Tue Sep 9th, 2008 at 07:40:21 PM EST
A Stepford wife that kills Moose or just a drone who repeats the same lines over and over. It is a toss up.

This new McCain ad just pissed me off. We need a coordinated outrage attack on the Democratic side.

I agree, the ad is perverse and we need a concentrated counterattack.  McCain, the bringer of war, has ignited a cultural conflict here in America.  It is just a taste of what he will inflict upon the world should he be elected.

Palin is/has become the cover girl for the ProLife/Christian Right/NRA/Don't tax me, but pave my road crowd. Look at this weeks cover on Newsweek. Pictures are easier to understand than all those words.
They will use her the rest of the campaign the way they have started it. I would not underestimate her appeal. We are talking about the good ole U.S.A. here, are we not?

We need to push for Progressive change, now more than ever.

It would McShameless and DJ Palin.  She's nothing, but a hype man for McCain.  She's the Puff Daddy to his Biggie.

Just think if McCain and Palin win in November and that famous heartbeat stops, we have a religious fundamentalist with her finger on the nuclear trigger.  Could she resist the temptation to usher in instantaneous rapture?  Wake up America, your days may be numbered indeed.  I wonder if she has the number 666 (the mark of the beast) upon her forehead.  I think I am scaring myself (with a lot of help from the GOP.)

Rove, McCain, Palin  -  an American axis of evil.

Livint in Syria is looking better and better as an option. It may be a third world dictatorship, but at least it's a secular state.
