I Endorse Fred Barnes' Strategy

I can only laugh at Fred Barnes and the Democratic bedwetters that worry that his stupid plan will work.

For the foreseeable future, attacking Obama will be counterproductive for Republicans. He's both enormously popular and the bearer of moral authority as the first African-American president. So the idea is for Republicans to make Obama an ally by using his words, from the inaugural address and speeches and interviews, against Democrats and their initiatives in Congress.
Obama is for bipartisanship. Pelosi, Reid, and their cohort are heavyhanded partisans with no interest in accommodating Republicans. Obama favors transparency. They don't. Obama says he wants "to spend wisely" and promises that "programs will end" if they don't work. That's hardly the philosophy of congressional Democrats.
Obama's words may be bromides or boilerplate that bear little relationship to his true sentiments or real plans. But so what? Republicans in the House and Senate are a badly outnumbered minority. They have few political weapons at their disposal. Citing Obama's words makes political sense. It's at least worth a try. Republicans have nothing to lose.

Go ahead and insist that the Democrats in Congress live up to Obama's rhetoric. Keep validating Obama. Use Obama as the highest and final moral authority. Please. I beg you. Idiots.

the likes of Boehner keep touting their newfound fiscal responsibility, with sudden concern about borrowing money from our children for economic stimulus...funny how that never came out of his mouth when we were borrowing from our kids to continue blowing up Iraq. I guess he doesn't know that people haven't yet forgotten who was in charge when the US racked up all this debt...

Ever try to distract a fretful baby with something shiny? Part of the current GOP strategery seems to depend on the same attention span in the electorate.
It's like governance under Big Brother, really. We've always been at war with Eurasia & we've always had a Democrat president named Obama.

The shiny toy approach did work for them for a long time...and there's probably 22% that will still reach for the shiny new plaything and forget about the last 8 years, sadly.

Still, I wish Obama and/or the Dems would do a lot more to keep reminding everybody that Bush ran up the biggest debt in the history of the world, and that Reagan/Bush tax cuts have turned out to be the problem, not a solution.

Kind of funny to see this kind of desperate stupidity from the wingnuts after all these years of hearing about what political geniuses they all are. The guy that ran for class president in high school was a better strategist than this.

Still, I strongly recommend that the GOP follow this advice to the letter.
