Commentator for Pajamas Television?

Yeesh.  The Internet has brought us many wonderful things, but also a lot of turds...

Pajama Television?  How about BT TeeVee?  I make my living, essentially, as a public speaker and since I've been on my leave, we're broke.  Where can I send my resume?

The afternoon commentator in CNN reported this and said Lord. Help Us!

I think he wants to report from Israel since he agrees with what they're doing. Job security?

Wanna bet that he doesn't land a talk show like Glenn Beck?

Can talk on camera, check....loves Israel, check.

Good to go.

So he's now a "war correspondent" for Pajamas TV, rubbing elbows with the likes of Insta-idiot Glenn Reynolds, Michelle Malkin, Pamela Geller and all the rest of the Hee Haw Gang.

No doubt that Ernie Pyle is rolling over in his grave.

Oh, the humanity!!!

Who cares what PJ "network" does? It's hardly news that they're one of the sanctuary cities for America's loudest dumberoti. Of course they'd latch onto "Joe".

What's more troubling is that this is deemed newsworthy by the mainstream media. Joe, who is not Joe, the plumber who is not a plumber, is a tracer bullet in the Right's war to co-opt the genuine populism that is trying to arise in America. He is a creation of image manipulators, designed to ultimately stain all populist leaders, rhetoric, and policy as cute, dumb, and phony. Palin, of course, was another round in that same battle.

"Joe's" ersatz popularity comes from the same manipulation that gave us Mrs. Butterworth, Ronald McDonald, and all the OCD housewives with moronic families who occupy most of the advertising that consumes around a third of broadcast time, 24/7. For decades those ads, and most of the shows that serve them, have hammered us with the idea that "ordinary Americans" are lovable, goofy, fools who are no more qualified to have opinions, much less attempt to act on them, than your parakeet.

Which leaves the field clear for the fools of the theocrat kind, who are not bland enough to commercially caricature. Obama is going to disappoint more than I hoped, from current indications, but I hope his example will help restore intelligence as at least a minor American virtue.

FDR's response to progressive demands: "I agree. Now go out and make me do it."

Joe is getting lots of press today. He's saying he knows he will be safe because God is protecting him, and that he only intends to talk to Israelis--make that Jewish folks--so it's clear he's not going to find anything out, just to develop some propaganda for the right wing website. But MSM is flashing him all over the screen and giving free press to the site, as well.

They should parachute him into Gaza so he could be closer to the action.

Not so off-topic: Has anyone actually confirmed or denied that Not Joe the Not Plumber is or isn't related to the guy who went to prison in the Keating Five thing?

only be talking to Israeli's.. doesn't the Israeli point of view already get plenty of coverage in MSM and on the web?

it would be much more informative for Sam to get with Palestinian "average Joe's"... IF he can get access.

He's my absolute favorite.

Joe is so 'American' in so many ways it is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait until his first confrontation with the real world happens. If his new bosses were smart, they would just let him rip and let comedy ensue as his brain explodes over and over.

Name recognition is truly all it takes to be pitched into the battle for eyeballs and ears.

Roland Burris is going to have a chance at being an effective Senator just because everyone knows his name and he'll a megaphone from the MSM for no other reason.

Not until you just mentioned his name (bringing to my remembrance my politically-incorrect reaction to that news at the time), but Joe's a celebrity, kinda like Pat Tillman. Other members of the special forces have died in Afghanistan, some probably due to friendly fire, but everyone remembers Tillman.

I'd certainly prefer for Joe to go the Michael Kelly route, but Joe's still fresh in the American consciousness - he'd be remembered. Better for him to look a fool over there and use up the last of his 15 minutes.

Are you kidding me?! He'll never get anywhere near a "war". He's gonna be guzzling beer in Tel Aviv the whole time. Why I'll bet anything he never even crosses path with one of them - what do they call 'em? - Eyesraeli Ayrabs (and boy do THEY hate being called that!) - you know, the 20% of Israeli citizens descended from the Ayrabs they failed to ethnically cleanse in 1948.

Speaking of stupid....

The Anchorage Daily News reports that Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol Palin's new baby, has quit his job:

Levi Johnston, the teenager planning to marry Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, has quit his North Slope oil field job over questions about his eligibility to participate in an electrical apprenticeship program, Johnston's father said Monday.

Johnston this fall began working at the Milne Point oil field through the ASRC Energy Services apprenticeship program.

In a Sunday editorial in the paper, Dan Fagan questioned whether Gov. Sarah Palin helped Johnston skirt requirements to get the gig.

The governor, in trying to dispel rumors the father of her grandchild is a high school dropout, released this statement this past week,

"Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice on the North Slope."

But federal regulations require all members of apprentice programs, union or otherwise, to first obtain a high school diploma, something the governor's soon-to-be son-in- law does not have. Some apprentice programs even require the completion of high school level algebra or the post-secondary equivalent.
