Into the Time Machine

Because it's timeless:

A very wise TV executive once told me that the key to TV is projecting through the screen. It's one of the keys to the success of, say, a Bill O'Reilly, who comes through the screen and grabs you by the throat. Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America.

Rich Lowry is a funny man.

I remember being asked what I thought about her shortly after she emerged upon the scene. The asker was someone I had just met, not realizing that he was a winger. Of course he was not aware of my political affiliation. My reply: "Not much."

So why can't Democrats... (none / 0)

...find someone who projects through the screen? Creigh Deeds is probably the best example of a solid guy who is hopeless on air, a very poor candidate for sophisticated northern Virginia. Doesn't someone figure this? The candidates that Democrats come up with are generally so unable to communicate through a camera that they are hopeless.

Michaela...you ever heard of a cat named "Obama"? He sure grabbed me by the throat during the campaign. No starbursts, though. That's the problem with us Dimmycrats; we think with the big heads, not the little ones.

Judging by the level of his thought and writing, Rich is 15, so I suppose he manages to spew all those little stars even without benefit of viagra. I usually like pathetic nerds, so at least Rich is exceptional in one respect.
