Praying for Others' Misfortune

by BooMan

They prayed that it would rain on Barack Obama's DNC acceptance speech. God rewarded them with a hurricane that disrupted the Republican National Convention. They prayed that some death or illness would prevent one Democratic senator from being able to vote for cloture on the health care bill. God ignored their wishes and it was Republican Jim Inhofe who failed to show up for the vote.

Now at least one teabagger is in tears, wondering if they've angered God by praying for misfortune to descend on others or if they just didn't pray hard enough.

Do you remember when these people were in power? Do you want that to happen again any time soon? Praying hard that it won't happen isn't good enough.

What is really shocking is that neither the host nor the guest reacted in any way. Is such a suggestion so commonplace in America these days that it's greeted with a straight face instead of shock and condemnation?

In the host's defense, I've never really seen CSPAN hosts react about anything on any issue; they're quite monotone.

There are fruitcakes in every country.  The USA just seems to mainstream theirs. You can's apparently challenge someone who claims Jesus as his Lord.  It's the greatest get out of jail card in the book.

That's what I'm sayin'.  There's no way this is real. It's gotta be somebody doing a practical joke.

Whose death disability would Jesus pray for?

Oh, there you are, Perry. -Phineas -SLB-

If you were truly a good Christian, you wouldn't be disabled, would you, because God looks out for his own.  It's basic logic.  ;>)

Do you want that to happen again any time soon?

Of course not.  It's just that some of us would like Obama to be a little bolder.

I think it was a prank, an academy award winning performance I must say. If it is real, it's scary as hell. I didn't seem to phase Barrasso, it's his base after all.

"Do you want that to happen again any time soon?"

FDL, her followers, and their teabagger allies are working hard to bring it about.

So I guess the answer really depends on who you ask.
