What Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) doesn't understand is that confessing to committing war crimes doesn't make it less likely that you'll be prosecuted for them. This kind of teenage excuse that 'everyone was doing it' is cute but not exculpatory in any way.

on a related note, the revelation that no one researched the history of the torture techniques that were used in Guantanamo is some classic teenage "i forgot to do my homework" excusification. And about as exculpatory as Hoekstra's nonsense.

how about the talking point 'but we got useful info'? Like it matters. I can't wait for that argument in the trial 'ya we tortured them, but they talked!'

Not to mention they are pointing at the 'big boys' and trying to get everyone to forget all the innocents they tortured (the ones they set free!)

And if Cheney is such a tough guy, why does he have his DAUGHTER going out making excuses for him? Nothing like tainting your WHOLE FREAKING FAMILY!
