I`m sure no one donates to this site to be put on a "Thanks very much", list, but even a private acknowledgement of receipt of a donation would go a long way.
One may not know that a donation has even been recvd. leading them to not bother to donate in the future.
Not speaking for myself, but I have been in private discussions about this very topic. You have to somehow acknowledge donations, (privately of course) to expect donors to repeat supporting this great site.
Am I making sense to you?
Many people here, I imagine, are as hard up on funds as anybody else in these rough times, & $20.00 to support the site can be an expense that is only donated from the heart, regardless of the thin wallet.
If they don`t know it`s acknowledged, their hearts may be not so open to ongoing requests.
I have not seen any heartfelt appreciation voiced for those who do support this site with donations, as minimal as they may be.
Color me wrong,

I've received mass thank-you notes and a personal email of thanks for supporting the site. When I have funds, I donate when i can. I enjoy it here very much.

My point exactly.
The discussions I had with people who have been here for years & do support this site, were disappointed or wondering why or how come their minimal donations weren`t acknowledged.
I just was trying to get clarification, & for those who do send in donations to be recognized so they do know their pittance has been at least recvd.
so they feel that their donations are helping.
My comment was more a statement as to the benefit of recognition, for the benefit of future contributions.
I would not have mentioned this, if I didn`t care about this site, now would I.
The reason I did was because I do.

Thank you, knucklehead. I have attempted to at least reach everyone in the past with a mass thank-you email, but I rely on my gmail filter to make the lists, and it seems to consistently filter some people out for reasons I don't quite understand. I will endeavor to find a more thorough and reliable approach.

Paypal keeps a record of emails, just click on the transaction 'details' link. I like big fluffy puppies and flowers better than mass thank yous, but don't use my 'ship to' address, it's fake. I trust you Booman, but I don't know about your hirelings. You know, if you want something done right....

I'm satisfied with a general blog post, but Knucklehead is right about this - there's no substitute for good manners. Any org. I've ever given money to is in constant contact with me.
