Friday Foto Flogging

by olivia
Fri Jan 29th, 2010 at 07:18:38 AM EST

Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we'll introduce a different photo website.

This Week's Theme: Random. Your choice.

Website(s) of the Week: View Obama had on entering the chamber for the SOTU, taken by White House Photographer Pete Souza. (More images from the SOTU can be found in this flickr set.)

AndiF's Random Acts of Snow

lol at the lock sign.

I like the look of the transit shots - the first two really look UFO-ish or alien or like something you'd see in a movie or video game set in the future.

The sign is hysterically funny. The rest of the pictures are fascinating -- especially the "SEPTA PCC Trolleys Waiting To Ship Out".

I especially liked the trolley shots. The color one would make a good poster for a "don't let mass transit die" rally. An aside, Memphis has done some nice things with some old, used trolleys.

Really nice set. The top one "Dirty" is especially good as are the trolleys. How did you ever find it?

That bottom one of the bee in the flower has me yearning for warmer weather. The cold has kept me indoors mostly so far this year and it's really depressing. I don't know if I suffer from Seasonal Affliction Disorder or what but I have lost a lot of drive this winter.

Thanks for posting that shot.

As a Mass. native I can relate to that. It's why we moved to Fl., the snow and wheelchairs don't go well.

I love the sculpture - the colours and the framing. Really lovely.

And I agree w/ ss re the flower and bee. I'm dealing w/ a major case of the winter blahs too, so it's really nice to be reminded of what is coming in a few months (colour, life, warmth ... ;-).

These are spectacular. Are you a working photographer? You should be. Love that tower dripping from the lantern. The cross in the sky above the mosque. Love all of them.

thanks so much for your nice comment. No, I'm just doing this for fun. I actually got a new camera in September and ever since I've been snapping away with much more gusto than before ;)

As for the mosque, that's actually a catholic church ;)
the towers are typical of baroque churches, and can especially be found in southern Germany and Austria. while I was photographing the church, one plane left a vaport trail and shortly thereafter another plane crossed its path.

if you'd like you can find more pics in my flickr account.

Imogen is working in Canberra this coming week, so I decided to go up with her for a few days, especially because the Musee d'Orsay collection is at the National Gallery and we both wanted to see it.  We've got tickets for tomorrow morning, pre-crowds.  Anyway, I'm on a tight schedule this morning, so I've only got time for re-posting images that I've already got in my ImageShack account.

You're right, of course, the crocus is from a spring of the past. The candidate is now a resident of the office next to mine and is a nice neighbor. She's a big improvement over Ms. Sourpuss (R) who was there when I started.

I planted these close to 20 years ago when we first moved in. Every year there are more and I divide and spread them further. They're first green things to appear in the spring.
