RIP John Murtha

John Murtha has passed away from complications arising from his gall bladder surgery last week. He was a controversial congressman, but he served his country both as a serviceman and representative. He will long be remembered for his turn against the war in Iraq. My thoughts are with his family.

That is sad. And that sounds like such a routine procedure, but then, no surgery is without risks. But I'm sure his family didn't think they were saying a permanent goodbye when they last saw him. That's tough.

Yes sort of sad, because it was routine surgery. But now we are hearing that he was the victim of another medical mistake. Estimates of 25-100,000 patients die from medical screwups every year.
