As I mentioned in an earlier comment, my wife's friend is a victim of Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent inaction from the government. Catnip recommended that I post a diary, so here it is.
His name is Don Boyle. A 52 year old, diabetic vet that was born and raised in Gretna, LA. He was living in Jefferson Parish, LA. when the hurricane hit. He was unemployed when Katrina hit and was unable to evacuate. He's currently in St. Charles waiting for a friend to pick him up and take him back to Lexington, TN. Read more... Yep that's right - Mr. the insurgents are in their death throws has called Dean 'Over the Top'
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney slammed Democratic Party boss Howard Dean as "over the top" in a television interview to air on Monday, saying Dean had helped Republicans more than Democrats. "I think Howard Dean's over the top. I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does," Cheney told Fox News Channel. "So far, I think he's probably helped us more than he has them. That's not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party," Cheney said. Really? So does that mean bushes approval ratings would be at 25% without Dean's 'Help'?

Promoted from the diaries. Solidarity in the face of the hurricane is important-Lapin
glynis has posted a diary over at dKos and I think it's a great idea. To: Democrats in U.S. Congress Recently some Democrats in Congress have chastised Governor Howard Dean, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, saying that he does not speak for the party. We the undersigned have a simple message we would like to convey to you: Howard Dean Speaks For Me And, we respectfully request that you refrain from public criticism of your fellow Democrats and that you begin to speak for us as well Sincerely, The Undersigned There have been more then enough Dems saying that Dean doesn't speak for the party - this is our chance to let then know he does speak for many us. I was looking up some sites at the Wayback Machine and noticed that Fox News blocks the crawler that archives websites. For those of you that aren't familiar with the site, it's a site that archives almost every site on the web back to 1996. All of the other news sites, like MSNBC and CNN allow archiving.
It leaves me wondering why they don't want the site archived. Maybe it has something to do with there tendencies to publish fake articles. What else is on the site that they don't want in the public archive? Comments >> (9 comments) by sgilman
I was looking thru some republican quotes and stumbled accross this quote from Trent Lott
Trent Lott Questioned by the Observer, London England, January 2001
Do you think it is fair that President Clinton is being accused of not preventing the attack on the USS Cole? LOTT: Well, in reality that is the way it is in America and it is what makes us a great nation. True leaders must handle difficult situations or have competent people who handle those situations. Sources did give information of a general nature to the Administration and it is obvious that an attack still occured. This is a more 'impeachable' offense than what was brought before the Congress. Fortunately, George Bush will in just a few days become our President. I can assure you that such situations will not be mishandled by his Administration. However general the information might be, the President-elect will act with authority to prevent such tragedies. Read more... (6 comments, 244 words in story) |
