Well, they say all good things must come to an end and "Political Animals" is no different.
I started drawing the strip in 2004 as a way to vent my frustration with the ways of the world and as a creative challenge. Putting a message into a three-panel cartoon is like making a haiku poem: you have to say what you want to say with an economy of words within a very rigid structure. Making it humorous on top of all that makes it very challenging indeed. It's been fun, but lately I've noticed that it's becoming a lot more difficult to avoid repeating myself. Maybe it means I've said all I had to say, I don't know. In any event, I wanted to stop while it's still fun and the new year seemed like an appropriate time to end things and say a heartfelt "thanks" to everyone who's taken the time to read my work. Thank you so much for reading and I wish you all the best in the coming New Year!

I didn't get home until late last night, so I didn't get to post today's comic until now. Hope you like it!

Dick Cheney's come out of hiding with a vengeance lately.
NOTE: I've left the image at full-size. Let me know if it throws things off on the page.

Yesterday was actually my last cartoon of the week, but I put this up on my web site for Christmas so I thought I'd share it with you.

This is the last cartoon before Christmas, so I wanted to wish everyone a Joyous Holiday Season!

One of the FISA Judges quit in protest yesterday. I guess he doesn't need the money 'cause working in a job where you don't get called upon to do anything could be a pretty sweet gig.

I'll be less skeptical about the security situation in Iraq when someone in the Administration makes a pre-announced visit.
Even the troops in Iraq were asking Cheney where the good news stories are at and he just turned it into an attack on the Media.

I haven't seen any Sunday morning news shows yet, but I'm pretty blown away from the snippets I've read so far. These guys must really think they're above the law and the GOP leadership seems to agree with them. Did you see the Bob Barr/Dana Rohrabacher discussion on CNN? Atrios has some highlights at his sight. This is crazy:
He acts like if the actual parchment gets destroyed that our Constitution ceases to exist. That's about as literal as you can get.
I hope I strike the right tone of irony and disgust in today's cartoon.

I've been renovating my blog recently and noticed it was getting a lot of traffic today so I checked the referrals and found that it was coming from Wampum's Koufax Awards nominations. I think the nominations are from BooTribbers.
If so, thanks for thinking of me! P.S. - It reminded me that I haven't been over to nominate BT yet. What categories is BooMan Tribune aspiring to? P.P.S. - Anyone else that wants to mention me, feel free! =^) Comments >> (3 comments) by Spike
How is it that Bush can say we don't torture and then threaten his first veto on a bill because it attempts to explicitly ban torture? It wasn't long ago when it wouldn't even have occurred to anyone to put such a provision into a bill. Times have changed.

I usually save the "groaner" for Friday, but what the heck. I was trying to come up with a dumb joke worthy of something as stupid as the "War on Christmas." I think I've succeeded. Hopefully, with time, my reputation will recover. =^)
Hope you like it!
