Yes, you read me right. No, I am not out of my mind. In fact when I filled out my ballot and sent it in, I felt better about that decision than I have about pretty much any decision since I married my wife.
But it's true. I didn't vote for Barack Obama. Well, who did I vote for? You'll have to come inside and hear the story to find out . . . Read more... (11 comments, 1902 words in story) by Omir the Storyteller
OK, I know, this is Monday's news, but there's a reason for the title.
We've been kind of busy with other subjects the past few days, so you might have missed the news that rock 'n' roll icon Bo Diddley died Monday, one day short of his 80th birthday. Read more... (25 comments, 1174 words in story) by Omir the Storyteller

The Hon. Barack Obama
c/o Obama for America P.O. Box 8102 Chicago, IL 60680 Dear Senator Obama: As you are no doubt aware, the Supreme Court today announced its decision in a controversial case, Crawford vs. Marion County, deciding 6-3 to let stand an Indiana law requiring voters to show official ID cards at the polls. I must admit that my first thought was that this is what happens when a radical Republican gets his hands on the White House and the ability to push his picks for the Supreme Court through. My second thought was that this is why we need to elect someone like you as President in November. I would like to share my third thought with you. Read more... As I write this, the announcement of results in Mississippi is less than 24 hours away. Barack Obama is expected to win, making his record 15-2 since Super Tuesday.
But once we get past Mississippi, Pennsylvania looms large on the horizon. It's a tough state, and Obama's opponent Hillary Clinton is favored to win that contest. Pundits have been saying that Obama needs to win one of the big states, to take something away from Hillary (Texas notwithstanding, I guess). I have an idea how he can do it. Read more... As many of you know, I got interested in politics in large part because of George Bush's ham-handed way of running the country. Ever since I flipped the switch I have been looking forward to the day when he would finally be out of office.
I'm still looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm concerned about the future. Let me tell you why. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, but I'm going to tell you anyway, because sometimes the things you already know need to be said out loud. Read more... You never forget your first time. For me, my first time was this afternoon . . . first time taking part in the political process at a level beyond just mailing in my ballot a few times a year and making an occasional donation, that is.
Today I attended my first caucus. Follow along as I describe the process, from the first time I found out about the caucuses until I got to be . . . well, we'll see what I got to be in a minute. Read more... (15 comments, 2134 words in story) by Omir the Storyteller
Well, hello everyone! Nice to see you all here today, taking time as you get ready for Christmas to come listen to an old storyteller. I'm getting ready too -- as soon as I'm finished posting it'll be time to go eat breakfast and then go to our church's Christmas Eve service. But I couldn't leave without a Christmas present for you.
It's not a story per se. More of an observation. I do hope you enjoy it, though, and maybe it'll make you think of your own Christmas tree in a slightly different way. Read more... (18 comments, 1166 words in story) by Omir the Storyteller
Today, on what I hope is a momentous and joyous occasion, I wanted to quote from the Bard. And amazingly enough, I found a seldom-quoted draft of one of his better known speeches. I guess it wasn't his fault that November 7th has a saint with such a dorky name . . .

The news was all over blogtopia (yeah yeah yeah Skippy) this afternoon: Calling All Wingnuts proprietor, law student and gadfly Mike Stark was assaulted today by several members of Senator George Allen's staff. (Don't sweat the provocative headline; read the story itself. It's a real corker. Violent outbursts, indeed.)
Well, Mike is fighting back. He's pressing charges against Senator Macaca. Read more... (3 comments, 165 words in story) by Omir the Storyteller
