 Autumn in DC

I got inspired by yesterday's diaries, so I grabbed my camera and drove around the DC metro area, stopping on the GW Parkway, Great Falls National Park and the new Air Force Memorial. Below are the results. I hope you enjoy them. If you like them and want to see more, you can go to my website: Meredith Klinger Photography.

We need to send a delegation of bloggers to DC.

by mlk19569
Mon Jan 30th, 2006 at 08:40:49 PM EST

We need to send a delegation of bloggers to DC.  Not just Armando and Georgia10 from dKos, but anyone of us who wants to go and can go.  We need to sit with Reid and Dean and Pelosi and anyone else we could nail down.

We need to show the faces behind the faxes and the emails and the phone calls.  Show that we are mothers, fathers, business owners, writers, tech people, people of all races, creeds, religions, you name it.  It would be nice if we could get people from all 50 states.

Republican dirty tricks in VA GOV race! With Pictures!

by mlk19569
Sat Nov 5th, 2005 at 09:19:06 PM EST

Cross posted at Daily Kos

I got a mailing supposedly from the Democrats called "2005 Official Democrat and Progressive Voter Guide".  Knowing that I'm voting for Kaine, I really didn't pay attention to it.  But I did notice that it mentioned voting for Russ Potts for Governor.  FOr those who aren't aware, Russ Potts is an old-school Republican running as an independent in this race and has more impact on Kilgore than Kaine.

Pictures from tonights shindig

Fri Sep 23rd, 2005 at 11:07:36 PM EST

Hi all..  It was  a fun time meeting everyone tonight.  I've got evidence that we are all relatively sane people.  :-)  I have to say that I'm exhausted and a little tipsy, so I'll not say much, but let the pictures speak for themselves.  This is only a few select ones from tonight because I'm too lazy to fix all of the over exposed ones.

We had a great crowd of Tribbers and dKos people.  It was great to finally put faces to screennames.

More after the flip:

Olbermann can father my children

by mlk19569
Mon Sep 5th, 2005 at 10:39:54 PM EST

[Promoted from the diaries by susanhu -- so long as I get him one night a week.] Anyone catch Keith tonight?  He was on fire!!  He slammed the Republicans into next week.

For your reading pleasure I bring you the transcript from the show:

Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff said it all, starting his news briefing Saturday afternoon: "Louisiana is a city that is largely underwater..."

Well there's your problem right there.

If ever a slip-of-the-tongue defined a government's response to a crisis, this was it.

The seeming definition of our time and our leaders had been their insistence on slashing federal budgets for projects that might've saved New Orleans. The seeming characterization of our government that it was on vacation when the city was lost, and could barely tear itself away from commemorating V.J. Day and watching Monty Python's Flying Circus, to at least pretend to get back to work. The seeming identification of these hapless bureaucrats: their pathetic use of the future tense in terms of relief they could've brought last Monday and Tuesday -- like the President, whose statements have looked like they're being transmitted to us by some kind of four-day tape-delay. What is wrong with this picture?

by mlk19569
Thu Aug 4th, 2005 at 03:15:25 PM EST

This is a new DC Metro bus line that goes from one side of the city to the other.

Is it me or does it look like the Jesus fish is on the side of the bus?

Sorry for the short diary, just not feeling verbose.

Saturday Morning Garden Party

by mlk19569
Sat Jun 18th, 2005 at 05:35:29 AM EST

Good morning all!  It's a beautiful day in VA, blue skies and low heat/humidity.  Sure beats the 90+ degree weather and high humidity of the last week.  Now if we would only get a good soaking rain for a day so that I don't have to go and water...

For your viewing pleasure, a preview of more after the flip:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Something to think about before going into the flip zone:  who or what inspires you to garden?  Whether you container garden or have acres of land, why do you get your hands dirty and do potentially back breaking work?
